Budget day: To topple or not to topple
1/25/2009 at 10:01 AM
A day many have had circled on their calendars for the last month+ will be coming up this week when, as most know, parliament resumes and the Conservatives will unveil the budget that they hope will save their government.
A few possibile angles...
- the budget hits high notes in so many areas that it would be politically impossible to reject
- they don't quite put their best foot forward, essentially challenging an "unbranded" Ignatieff to an election.. which you could argue would bring a better chance at majority than if they gave him time to establish himself
- they goof, the coalition isn't satisfied with the budget and feel they can justify toppling the government and sending us to the polls again
What would you prefer happen?
What do you THINK will happen?
