Late tuition fees cause for student to sue U of M?

Per the link below, a U of M student is carrying out a class action lawsuit against the University of Manitoba because of late tuition fees.
From the lawyer's quote, the official reason for the suit:
"The issue is if a person is only a day late, an hour late, or even a minute late in making a tuition payment, that person has to pay a fee of $50"
Apparently "the fee falls under the definition of a criminal rate of interest as per the provisions in the Criminal Code of Canada."
Do you agree with this lawsuit on principle? or is this a situation where if you don't pay your fees on time, you should accept the consequences?
