Marty Minuk still a special prosecutor?
6/6/2009 at 9:40 AM
Am I the only one who finds this utterly ridiculous? Out of all the prosecutors available for the independent special prosecutors list, Marty was kept on the list?
In an article in today's Brandon Sun, Assistant Deputy Minister, Don Slough states, "With notable exception of the Taman case, we've been very satisfied (with Marty's work for the past eight years)." Many of the problems in the Taman case were not of Marty's own making? What? Many problems....not all.
If Minuk's sympathizers are correct and Marty is one of the brighter lights in the city's tight-knit legal community, no wonder our justice system is so FUBAR.
I tend to agree with Robert Taman and his thought that there is still an old boys' network when it comes to lawyers in Winnipeg.
Of course Dave Chomiak had no comment. My question is how could Marty agree to to stay on? His incompetence in the Taman case should have been enough for him to politely decline this position.
Just my thoughts as I shake my head.
