More than 8 in 10 Cdns volunteer in a given year. Do you?

Statscan released the results of an interesting survey today that measures how much Canadians volunteer and donate their time to charitable and non-profit orgs.
The results, based on a 2007 survey, found that a whopping 84% of Canadians 15 years old and over volunteered during the survey's 12 month period and that 46% donated money.
I thought it would be interesting to get a sense for how much Brandonites and Western Manitobans have given over the past year. How often do you personally volunteer your time or donate money?
For those that do, can you pinpoint any specific reason you'd give time or money that you would otherwise spend personally?
Feel free to use this as an opportunity to plug a specific group that you like to help out, as long as its within the context of the discussion!
