Ensuring safe teen driving

The issue of teen driving safety is on our collective consciense as much now as ever.
While it wouldn't be fair to paint all young drivers with the same brush, it would be hard to deny that your average teenager approaches driving differently from your average veteran driver.
The question is, is enough being done to ensure the safety of our young drivers and those they share the roadway with? And if the answer is 'no', what do you suggest be done by either parents, lawmakers or other parties?
