Dress Code Virden School
9/22/2009 at 6:49 AM
I like the idea of this dress code. Maybe teenagers will start dressing a bit more respectably. I still see them dressing like this as they start in the workforce. Maybe a few rules before they get to the workforce will help.
new dress code:
No halter tops, muscle shirts, bare backs or midriffs. No mini-skirts shorter than four fingers above the knee.
Spaghetti straps and strapless tops are a no-no.
Ladies, no cleavage. Gentlemen, button-up shirts and dressier pants and shoes, if you please.
All of you — no exposed underwear.
In general, an effort is being made to restore age-appropriate clothing that does not objectify either gender sexually, said junior high principal Mark Keown.
“We expect mostly to have to tell the Grade 8s to tone it down a little,” he said, noting that teens have tended to follow fashions dictated by pop music and Hollywood celebrities.
“There won’t be any problem with the Grade 5s.”
One noticeable change this year on the first day of school? Fedoras, for both guys and gals.
And bright pink is the operative colour for many of the elementary school students.
