Hope in the Headlines ...

I was reviewing the headlines on the Brandon Sun site a moment ago and while noting with sadness the passing of Lloyd Gurr following complications from his lung-liver transplant surgery in August, I couldn't help but not the up-beat tone of the article and the deep appreciation expressed for the community support offered to Lloyd and his family ...
Then exploring more deeply in the headlines, I found an article about a new Downs Syndrome Support Group getting off to a tremendous start with a weekend event AND the news coverage of the support offered to 13 yr old Jessie Robbins from Souris who is undergoing treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma and who this weekend had a broad circle of folks shave thier heads as an expression of thier support and love for her ...
In the midst of all the negative that is happening in our world, it is refreshing to read stories like this, and to be reminded that communities can and do offer amazing care and support when needed ...
Just had to offer this ... these stories whisper a message of hope for me, and remind me that no matter how bad my personal situation might be right now ... where there is life, love, laughter and friendship - THERE IS HOPE.
