Haiti & C17's

Well no matter what some Canadians think about our present federal leadership one thing we can say is some times in spite of them we get good decisions.
Haiti is in trouble. The last time Canada faced a international crisis like this the then Canadian leaders dithered for days try to figure out whether to rent a Soviet heavy lift Aircraft or not for our Dart team.
Here not many years later our own planes( C17's ) that crtics panned us buying at the time have made in these few days
A) one rescue mission of 1oo plus canuks.
B) One transport mission of soldiers and relief supplies.
C) are just about to move the rest of Dart and its water purifiers etc this week end!
D) Possible move another 800 troops and supplies etc to that devastated country Monday or Tuesday next week.
All this in a time frame than we could only dream about several years ago.
The choice of heavy lift capabilities was correct then and it shows now. The present Canadian leadership took a lot of heat over that
Yes military spending sometimes gives us capabilities we need in a civilian world!.
Come to think of it some critics were mad at our leadership for fast tracking the C17 aircraft purchased over the airbus a400. Well that plane still has not hit the market while we are using ours today to help save lives!
Anyways my thoughts and prayers for all those affected both in Haiti and In Canada !
