How do you decide who to vote for?

There are countless reasons we vote for who we vote for at election time. What factor(s) are most important to you?
Some common ones.... Is it based on meeting the candidates face-to-face? Party lines? General policy? Whether the candidate has made promises/contributions in areas important to you? Whether or not you see a need for change?
