What do the NDP promises really mean?

All this talk about more nurses and doctors etc. If it's such a good idea, why didn't the NDP act on these ideas in their 8 previous years of power?
Smith and Caldwell come out with these campaign promises for Brandon, but what have they done for Brandon in the previous 8 years? I just don't buy into the NDP spin.
And I really wish they would come clean over the whole Crocus issue....
