Mike Waddell's Thoughts With Two Weeks Left
5/9/2007 at 11:45 AM
The campaign pace has begun to pick up like I suspected it would with two weeks to go. It has been interesting to watch and read this week as some people have focussed on one announcement over any other so far. Yes, I am referring to the Jets announcement from Monday.
The announcement was about vision and dreaming and moving towards a possible plan to have the NHL return to our province. Of course this may be a polarizing issue but the point of the announcement was to show Manitobans that we should be able to dream.
We should be able to dream about a province that people can live, they can work, and get a great education. A place where we can feel safe. A place where we can know that we have fresh water, clean air, and the opportunities to follow our dreams.
A place where the healthcare system is fair and well staffed so we can receive treatment in a timely fashion.
A place where people of all ages can know that they can have the opportunity to have their basic needs addressed in a dignified fashion.
We should be able to dream of a place where people around the world hope to come. A place where they can raise their families, invest and build a future.
The point of the announcement is that we as Manitobans can and should be able to be proud of our home.
We have made announcements concerning health care, justice, public safety, Aboriginal issues, education, Early Childhood Education and the treatment and prevention of addictions.
There are still fourteen days to go in this campaign.
If you have any questions about any of our announcements, our policies or anything you might hear from or about me on the campaign, please call me at 728 6453 at our campaign office.
If you would like to volunteer, if you would like a sign or if you need to alert me to an issue that is not being addressed please get in touch with me.
My personal promises are very simple in this campaign....
I will listen...
I will work hard for the people of Brandon East.
I believe that it is time for a change in Brandon East.
