Saving Small Schools in Manitoba
5/29/2007 at 10:14 AM
I am from a small town, with a very small school that is facing closure from Park West School Division. No matter what we say, they have their minds made up that our school is not worth saving. Our children are getting an excellent education due to the small classroom size, and more one on one attention from the teaching staff. Why is it the government of Saskachewan is looking at how to save these small rural schools (and therefore the communities that they are in), but the government of Manitoba would rather do away with them. These schools are a valuable resource to our small communities. I also heard on CBC Radio this morning that some Winnipeg communities are facing school closures. This is a very tramatic thing to happen to the people and children of rural Manitoba, and no one seems to be stepping up with a solution. Any ideas???
