Could not have happened to a more deserving website and clientèle!

The hackers should get a reward lol

I didn't even know what "Ashley Madison" was but after reading about it I think it is fitting what happened

Its interesting to see these comments but would you feel this way if someone you knew was affected??  
The online world involves alot of people you would probably never expect

I would think hey friend, get your head out of your ass, why are you cheating? If you are unhappy, leave or fix it and THEN move on. Friend, family, stranger - that goes to all of them!

Nice to see the judgement train keeps on rolling.  
 
There's not one person here who doesn't have some skeleton in their closet that they'd like to keep from the rest of the world and I think it's ridiculous that anybody is judging any of these people for what they've chosen to do with their lives.  
 
No I don't agree with the site, but I don't think it's any of our business what any of those people who've used it do. Further, I can't begin to imagine the rage on here if it were any of your credit card information that was supposed to be secure was hacked and held over your head for potential blackmailing purposes.  
 
This is no better than people hacking Home Depot or Target or Sony as far as I'm concerned.

Well put and I agree with you. People in glass houses and all that.

I love how people blame this site for people cheating. Cheaters Cheat. Do you blame bars when a married person hooks up with someone else? If there was no market, there would be no site.  
 
As for the hacking, I think that the judgement people displayed on this thread alone is what some people use for justification. Just because you don't agree with what a business or a person does doesn't give you or anyone the right to commit a crime against them and to applaud a criminal says more about you and your morals than anyone on that site.

I also don't agree with the site. But hey what others do in private is none of my business. To hear they where hacked and peoples info has been stolen is horrible. So cheers to you Degenerate with your post!

We're all fallible, and no matter how high your pedestal is, you've no doubt done something at some point in your life that you regret to some degree.  
I'm not going to argue that further, because you denying it makes you either a sociopath or a liar, neither of which is very becoming.

in my opinion. We all have skeletons but this affects many people as a poster mentioned above. I am sorry, but nothing can justify having an affair. Some things need to come into the light. It's good that 37 million people are perhaps growing a conscience and perhaps re-thinking about continuing their 'external' relationships. Who knows, maybe the world is a better place for a few affected family members (and perhaps ones that could potentially be affected in bad way) today? Let's ask the clients.  
 
as for credit card info, having a low limit, and keeping it maxed out is a good way to go Take my credit info. I will cancel the card, or get chargebacks then get a new one.  

I'm going to put my tin foil hat on and say:  
Maybe Ashley Madison paid the hackers to come in through a back door. The hackers "say" they are pissed that A.M. is charging $19 to do a clean delete of an individual client's info. But now clients are scared and more so want all their info gone. NOW.  
Let's see - 37 million x $19 is over $700mil take. Even if a small percent close account, it's still a nice payout to A.M. Now fearful clients will want to delete and run! Hackers take their cut from Ashley, and they all live happyily ever after. It's a great pension if the site is gone the A.M. team split it.  
 
If this site survives with the publicity it has now, it will may thrive. New sign ups = WIN. Delete account = WIN!

So nothing justifies having an affair, but apparently having an affair justifies credit card and identity theft?

CNN Money has an article up saying:  
 
"On Monday afternoon, the company defended the service, and also said it would make it free."  
 
According to the hackers:  
 
"Full Delete netted [Avid Life Media] $1.7 million in revenue in 2014."  
 
That's no small chunk of change and it would at least appear that they are willing to remove the pay to remove feature.

I'm not sorry that cheaters may be exposed. To my knowledge most cheating comes out in the end, but I am sorry that their spouses will be the ones to bear the brunt of the shame and embarrassment. They don't deserve it.

While I don't agree with the site in any way shape or form, I think people in general remain blind to the reality of events such as these. All of our information is out there, with various retailers, online sites, organizations etc. Unfortunately the harsh reality is when someone wants it ( ie: they have a gain to make, financial or otherwise ) they will go and take it. It's happening at more and more retailers ( Walmart Photo gave up mine resulting in fraudulent charges that required correcting ) and more and more sites and organizations. This is reality and as said, everyone has skeletons.......if you think they are "safe" somewhere, there is no such thing........they just haven't been there yet.
