In this election, a Green vote outside of BC or Thunder Bay/Superior North is probably a wasted vote.  
 
However, if we can get in place a government that has committed to making changes in the electoral process in Canada in time for the October 2019 election, you will NEVER have to worry about wasting a vote again.  
 
Just for clarity's sake, the conservatives are the ONLY party that has publicly stated that our electoral system DOES NOT require change and they are the ONLY party that has not promised to even examine the possibility of change. That isn't surprising, because, as we all know from elementary school, 39% of something constitutes a majority. In the case of 2011, 39% of the popular vote gave Mr. Harper more than 50% of the seats in the House of Commons.  
 
Please vote strategically and help make this the LAST unfair election in Canada.

I would laugh if the situation wasn't so hypocritical. The latest add by the conservatives is what I'm talking of, Mr, Harper is stating that the election isn't about him and yet how much money has been spent on saying Justin Trudeau just isn't ready.  
There have been a lot of comments made saying Justin is a Trudeau, like father like son, so if I look at the last election, I wonder about the Dindale family, WalterDinsdale was a well respected conservative representative, so what happened to the Conservative party if he could no longer support it, heck even long time conservative Danny Williams can't come out and support Mr, Harper, is there a message that may being overlooked. I think that if events under the Harper government where looked at from a Canadian perspective with no politics involved the answer would yep this isn't us. Things have changed so that political parties cater to special interests, and I guess we have to choose if the special interests of these parties share our values for the future.  
 
I am going to vote but I feel it is a wasted effort, regardless how I vote we will have an ever growing government, we have more intrusion in our lives, we will pay higher taxes in one way our another. Government or governments have become a beast of their own.

Voted today and the place was quite full (Manitoba room at the Keystone Centre). Some of the polling stations had long lines while others were shorter.  
 
 
I waited maybe 10 minutes to vote. Not too bad for a big election. Now to wait until the results are in next Monday.

This is my first time voting too and my vote will be strategic. ABC anything but conservative. Can't wait to see the conservatives defeated. Too bad we don't get to vote twice one for the MP and another for prime minister. I can't stand Harper and his narrow view of what is good for Canada. Now that I'm older and more educated I am learning more about how this government stuff works and I am glad to say that I'm rocking the vote.

Glad to hear from first time voters and hope they encourage their friends to do the same. I have to agree with Dan about Harper saying this election isn't about "him" and how funny that statement is. All we've heard in the last few years is the "Harper government" has done this or that. It has always been about him and his method of governing seems to be a secretive one-man-show. Even in this election campaign his Cabinet Ministers are rarely seen. The next week is going be interesting as the political ads ramp up from all sides.

In the article there is a great quotation from the Canadian Constitution. It says "This Charter shall be interpreted in a manner consistent with the preservation and enhancement of the multicultural heritage of Canadians."  
 
Hmmm. Preservation and enhancement of the multicultural heritage of Canadians. I wonder how a snitch line serves to preserve and enhance multicultural heritage.  
 
Are the HarperCons so arrogant that they really do believe that they can disregard the Constitution in order to pursue their own agenda ?

I agree that it is great to hear about all of the first time voters out there! I'd really like to see a turnout above 75% no matter what the outcome.  
 
I had a chance to speak to some younger ladies the other day when I was getting a haircut. I was quite surprised and disappointed about their lack of knowledge of how our country is governed and how our elections determine the makeup of our government. Is this not taught in schools anymore? At one time, history or sociology classes spent a great deal of time on the subject of the different levels of Canadian government. What happened to that?  

The one thing that worries me about Justin is his stance on taxing the rich to free up money for the middle class BUT he has yet to tell me who is the middle class.  
 
How much money does a person or family have to make to be moved from Middle Class to more taxed is what I would like to know. And, considering Justin income, would he be considered Middle Class, Rich or just a public servant and what will he pay.

Well I highly doubt you're making $200,000 a year so there is your answer..

Pretty far apparently. I'm nothing like my father and I'm sure many others are in the same boat as me. Using an idiom to characterize a political candidate like his father before him has little substance.

I am All for grassroots. Greens should be given an opportunity to show what they really have to offer.

It never ceases to amaze me how wild eyed Liberals get, fully worked up by CBC propaganda which is gospel truth to them.  
 
When they don't have majority government power its not pretty. The world is ending and the country falling apart. But once they're in, Canadians lose their voice and its an impenetrable regime we must suffer through.

Why is it that anyone who doesn't believe in the CPC way to govern is voting based upon propaganda?  
 
There are means and mechanisms to learn about each party and educated voters go out and vote early.  
 
The CPC has provided more than enough reasons to justifiably NOT vote for them. What have they shown for reason TO vote for them? The economy? 5 months of recession is not something I would base a CPC vote upon.  
 
I wouldn't base a vote upon whether a woman can/can't wear a face-covering at a citizenship ceremony. There are about 5 people in Canada this would affect. The economy affects ALL of us.  
 
The "SNITCH LINE" to report "barbaric cultural practices" as described by Jason Kinney is frightening. The East Germans had the Stasi. Will we get more Harper, a "Snitch line" to which we can report our neighbors and less democracy.  
 
Just because a person is NOT voting for Harper does not mean a person has not found a viable reason, known to them, for voting AGAINST returning Harper and the Conservatives to power in Ottawa.  
 
Also, CBC is overseen by a bunch of patronage appointees. Who appointed these people? Stephen Harper. Don't like the CBC? Take it up with Mr. Harper. His people run the Corporation.

Its funny how many people Ive heard say they want to vote green but will vote ndp or liberal cause green is a wasted vote and wont do anything. Really people? If a million people across canada want to vote green and are unsure but actually voted green it would make quite a difference! If you want to vote green and dont then green will never win. Ill be voting green as theyre the only ones that make any sense. Please check out their platform. Its actually very very good.

All have been appointed since 2008.

Throughout the years I have either voted NDP or Conservative. I guess people have forgotten the senate scandal, I haven't so that alone has made me lose faith in the Conservative party. And then there was the "illegal" raise in the PST from Mr Selinger. At least Justin Trudeau is someone who hasn't lied to me YET, so I will support a change.

publicly stated he would work with the NDP but not with Thomas Mulcaire as its leader.  
Mulcaire will be packing up and moving back to his house he remortgaged 11 times.  
The Liberals and the Conservatives are more closely aligned with each other than the NDP and the Liberals! Should be interesting as it certainly looks like a minority Government either way!  

Pam the scam - lots to dislike about the Cons - controlling secretive leader, arrogant, mistreatment of veterans but in turbulent economic times I give them the edge in terms of managing the economy.  
 
Nice hair - will destroy the economy with massive deficits for years to come - pity the next generation that has to pay for this folly  
 
Agent Orange - doesn't appear sincere - daycare at $15 per child per day will be a dream come true for many and a balanced budget too - so how soon can I expect the GST to rise to 7 or 8% and they will have to cut spending somewhere - likely the armed forces will be gutted.  
 
Anyway - get ready for the next federal election next spring.

A coalition is anything BUT a mutiny. Think about it - if one party gets 40% of the seats in the HOC, that is not a majority. The other parties, who hold 60% of the seats and represent a TRUE majority or Canadian voters have every right to join forces and govern. IMHO, that majority should be given the option to govern first, before it is given to a single party that would form a minority government.
