Harper is the most anti abortion candidate out there and he has had plenty of time with a majority government to do something about it but hasn't.  
 
Guess Harper must be pro choice too. If not how could he lead the country and not do something about it?

And you can choose to vote for whatever party you wish. I hope that you agree with me that we should all cherish our freedom and defend it. I understand your position on abortion, but is forcing a woman to carry and give birth to a child freedom for that person? When we as a society choose to tell her what to do with her body and then leave her with one of two choices, what happens then? Her two choices are first is to give up the child for adoption or the second to keep, nurture, care and raise an unwanted child. A sure way to drive the women to "post pardum" depression and mental illness.  
I also don't understand the economic numbers in your post where Pierre Trudeau's accumulated deficits rose tenfold to 194 Billion. He did run some serious deficits, I will give you that. However, in his defense I would say that there was a ton of infrastructure projects going on at the time such as building new roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, etc, etc. He also experienced his own economic downturn. Having said all that I do believe that the worst PM (fiscally) was Brian Mulroney and the best, Jean Chrétien. I really don't see the strenght in a party when all they can tell me is how bad or inexperienced the other guy is. I am fairly certain there exists no politician with whom I will agree on every issue. I believe in choosing a candidate to vote for across the spectrum of issues as their job will be to govern a spectrum of issues. I am unlikely to have one issue decide my vote if I have worries about their competence in other areas. To me, that would be like buying a car with a good radio even if the drive train is suspect.  
 
Please get out and vote one way or the other on October 19th.

than just cutting loose. She was an embarrassment and if Conservative MP Lisa Raitt didn't rescue her, her political career might just of been over. What kind of politician says what she said?????

Am looking forward to election day and lets put this long, long campaign behind us. Everything has been turned into a political issue. I've watched all of the debates so far but no clear winner has come out ahead. My biggest fear is we will end up with a minority government and another election way to soon, not to mention another ridiculously long campaign. I just want it over!

This past year the government is reporting a $1 billion surplus for the 14-15 fiscal year. I'm not saying vote Harper I just think Canadians should be very cautious about the NDP and the Liberals, all of the big 3 scare the crap outta me right now! If Canada wants real change the only party is green, but they don't stand a chance!

Here are the reasons I'm voting Liberal and Justin Trudeau. These are my own reasons and my thoughts: Agree to disagree, but every person is entitled to their own opinion.  
 
1) PC Stephen Harper is secretive and not transparent to me. Maybe his intent in the beginning was to be the guy for all people, but I now liken him to a schoolyard bully. He has nice silver hair too, but let's stop the American style attack ads. What a complete turn off. It's his controlling nature that really rubs me the wrong way. Bullying takes down the opponent to build yourself up. Why not concentrate on achievements instead of tearing down your competition? These are classic bullying tactics and I dislike that. Mom always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."  
 
On a local note, if you vote for Larry Maguire, you vote for Harper. Last Manitoba election, Maguire could not be bothered to show up for some candidate debates. Won't ever forget that.  
 
2) NDP Thomas Mulcair. Anyone that aligns themselves with Premier Greg Selinger and our drowning Province, as well as a surprise election promise not to raise the PST, then does, scares me somewhat. The SpeNDP will never have my support. Selinger reads to me = Non-Confidence. He had a revolt when his own party faithful turned on him after raising the PST. When a Federal Leader aligns himself with Greg Selinger, I'm outta here. Mulcair has not bad hair either.  
 
On a local note I am not sure who local NDP'er Melissa Wastasecoot is right now. It doesn't really matter as the NDP will never have my support.  
 
3) Liberal - Justin Trudeau. Sure he has nice hair, but that is not why I will be voting for him. It's just one more insipid put-down from the Harper camp. He was born into a family of privilege, but he's the first one to admit that he had no choice being born into the family and that at times, he downplayed the wealth and disagreed on some of his father's policies. I like the high road the Liberals have chosen in not putting out attack-ad commercials. I like Justin's transparency and I think he has conducted himself with class and dignity. When I read about him and his family upbringing, which he didn't choose, I feel he has a level head and can provide a fresh new alternative to Controlling Cons and the SpeNDP.  
 
On a local note, Jodi Wyman is a dedicated Liberal and I can't say I know well of her, but she will be getting my vote.  
 
That's my take. I will not get into policies here, but I do look at character of the candidates, and I believe Justin is leading the pack with dignity and class. I was just googling lottery wins for kicks and giggles and this article came up about Justin Trudeau and it was a refreshing, humble read.

I don't know but it seems like to many issues on the table. Everything from 2 women in Canada wearing a niqab at Citizenship ceremonies becoming a major issue (even though they have to uncover to prove their identity beforehand) to all the bouquet tax credits that seem to be offered every second day. Great for the accountants by making it so complicated to fill out our tax forms though. I know everything is political in an election but am really getting tired of it and it seems to be bringing out the worst in our human nature in regards to others. None or very little mention of poverty in Canada, housing for low income people and aboriginal issues. There is a lot missing.

Harper was condescending in my eyes. I know you love the guy SJK. He kept avoiding the questions and saying "Look, Peter, the blah blah blah of the blah, blah blah...  
 
We can agree to disagree, but Harper must go. I thought Trudeau was honestly refreshing in his humble interview.

Just a little reminder that the "surplus" for the 14-15 fiscal year was achieved by selling off the GM stock (purchased to help bail out the company)at a huge loss and by raiding the EI fund.  
 
Real nice, Harper - deny record numbers of EI applicants - who have paid into the fund, then take money from that fund and use it to create the illusion of a surplus and balanced budget for your own benefit.

Justin is more focused on Eastern Canada, not hard-working, lower or middle class Canadians. I think anyone who thinks he can relate to the working middle-class had better give their head a shake. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, a 7-figure trust fund. I don't think he knows how to run a country...he's never really even had a full-time job!! I would vote for Peter Mansbridge if I could, but since I can't I will definitely vote Green.  
 
Because MP's have to vote according to their party's wishes, we do not actually have a democracy in this country. MP's cannot truly represent the needs of their constituents. They have to vote in agreement with their party, whether or not it benefits the people that they represent. I really like May's desire for political reform.  
 
I don't like Trudeau's lack of concern about operating within a balanced budget. How much more debt can our country safely accumulate? We are leaving our children and grandchildren with an ever mounting debt. Too much of our tax dollars goes into paying off interest from out debt, rather than going into programs that benefits our country.  
 
I think that Trudeau's proposed changes to the child tax credit system is a way to get a lot of votes. The limit of $150,000, which is WAY beyond the limit of what would constitute the child poverty that he is claiming to try to eliminate, covers 90% of the families in Canada, so that would buy him a lot of votes. Even though I am a parent, I am concerned about this proposal. I have heard direct comments from low income people who choose to have more kids as a way of getting a higher income from the government, so I believe that programs such as this actually increase child poverty. People who can't afford to raise children choose to have more children because they can get more money from the government.  
 
And from what I have seen in provincial governments, I would not vote for speNDP, because I want our country to work within a balanced budget, unless there are unforeseen circumstances, such as natural disasters.  
 
And of course, I would definitely NOT vote for Harper. Nuff said.  
 
It doesn't bother me that May lets loose once in a while. Actually, I like the fact that she is open about wanting to have a bit of fun. My best bosses at work are the type who can have a bit of fun, but still take their jobs very seriously.  
May interviewed the best, in my opinion, and so she will get my vote. And these were lengthy interviews, not just quick ads, so there was a lot of opportunity to see what the candidates were all about.

According to my answers, I am nearly tied for the three parties - Con, Lib and Green, and slightly lower to vote for NDP (which is an absolute no in my mind, but something I agreed with the NDP clearly supports)  
 
Funny how I can be so steadfast in some of my beliefs, but what it does do is paints me directly in the middle and not left or right leaning at all.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm not going to let some scandal be the issue that decides my vote. Sure, I voted against the Liberals after the sponsorship scandal, but the scandal wasn't the only reason that I didn't vote Liberal again. Yes, I did used to vote for them. There were a whole lot of reasons that just kept piling up over the years, causing me to change my vote away from the Liberals. All of the parties have had and will, no doubt, have their fair share of scandals. I am going to be voting for the party and the leader who, in my opinion, has the best policies.  
 
As for the MPs being able to go against the wishes of their own parties, if that is allowed, then why bother to even have political parties. We may as well just let three hundred and some odd people run for individual parliamentary seats and have four or five people run for the position of Prime Minister. When I look at American politics and see someone like Senator McCain, for example, who quite often votes with the opposition, I find myself wondering why his party doesn't just kick him out. I mean, if he were in Canada and voted against his own party, he would most likely find himself sitting as an independent. In Canada, any MP that doesn't agree with the policies of their own party has the option of leaving and sitting as an independent or even crossing the floor. I don't like it when they cross the floor, but they do have the right. Really though, by the time the candidates run in the election, they should already have a pretty good idea of what their own party stands for. If they don't agree then they shouldn't run for that party. I see nothing wrong with the way the parties are run now when it comes to this.  
 
What I could be in favour of though, would be an elected senate. Especially if they would hold the senate elections three years after the parliamentary elections, which could be one way for the public to send a message of approval or displeasure to the governing party.

Considering what you posted, why do you think Harper pledged in 2008 to allow more free votes in the House of Commons ?

After the last few weeks of listening to all the campaign promises, I have to keep asking myself the question --- "what's in it for me?"  
 
The Green Party has nothing to offer if our riding would have them elected. If anything was to benefit me, if would be the satisfaction of letting the other parties and the rest of Canada know we're so sick of all of them and that we "threw our vote away". Maybe then by the next election, western Manitoba won't be always labeled 'guaranteed blue' and actually get some 'specific' election promises, geared towards our needs and wants. It's tempting, but what else is available at the moment.  
 
The NDP... What's there to say? I truly admire Mr. Mulcair as a morally wholesome and very intelligent individual. But, his party sucks when it comes to having anything in their plans that would have direct benefits for me. I mean, there's absolutely nothing! It's great for the little guy who requires Canada social systems to survive (single parents, seniors, veterans, the working poor, the unemployable sick, ...and so on), but if they keep squeezing money out mid to upper middle income... They will eventually create a 'two tiered economy'. It won't be a 'have and have-not', but more of the 'supporters' and the 'supported', instead. Sorry, I like the guy, but I hate the party. There's nothing for me, but more taxes.  
 
The Liberals to me, are the exact opposite of the NDP. I like the party, but hate the guy. I could tolerate for what the party stands for, but Justine worries me. Some of his earlier promises has just as much fluff as once his hair. He's too quick to 'jump on-board' on public/social opinions of the younger generation or brought on by the mass media without first thinking the plans and/or strategies to do so. ...He's too "eager to please" and then just shoots his mouth off, hoping everyone gets behind his ideas and personal opinions. I just cringe at the thought that he might be representing Canada to the world. Setting aside Mr. Trudeau's personality, the key political parties platform is somewhat sound. However I'm against the spending our way out of the recession, scraping the air force contracts, legalizing marijuana, the plan for affordable housing, reformatting EI, the revision of Child benefits, their stance on Europe's refugee crises, and their definition of middle income. Yes sir, they can talk the talk, but can they walk the walk? Especially with him leading the way.  
 
And finally, the Reform >>oops! I mean the Conservative Party ...lead by "Darth Harper". As evil and secretly corruptive as we all know they are... we did survive their rein of political chaos from within the party this past year. The Conservatives remind me of the morally low, slimy lawyers we all want on our side when we need help get ahead in legal matters. We don't like them, but they're an necessity when we need help. Yes, they have their own agenda. But their plans with tax cuts and the remote possibility of the "Income splitting plan" has me leaning towards the "Dark Side". Screw David Suzuki and the rest of the 'bleeding heart, environmental conscious, millionaire, celebrities' for a moment... I'm drowning in taxes from supporting strangers and slipping into an abyss of debt, while the self righteous poor reap in one benefit after another. The "Middle & upper middle income" earners are not looking for some kind of bloody social program handout ...just a simple financial break to maintain a sustainable way of life. Unfortunately, the 'Harper Empire' has the best answer to the question: "What's in it for me?" And the answer is: "The slight chance of a fair tax break for my family if the Conservatives win a majority government and pass the 'Split Income tax Bill'". That's the best answer (best hope) I've interpreted so far out of all four campaign platforms.  
 
So there you have it. I wish I had more alternatives, but I'm reluctantly siding for personal gain, rather than my moral political standings for a better Canada. Sorry I'm beaten down, desperate and weaken by selfish needs for self preservation. Don't judge my decision, there are a lot more of us stuck like this than you think. Lots that are teetering on the financial edge of dropping down into the classification of the "Middle poor". A term used for those that earn too much to have any government social benefits/support and be expected to pay and contribute to the highest ratio in income to taxation. But not earning enough to easily pay out debts and further invest in themselves or produce any significant savings for the future. Basically, mortgaged and living somewhat comfortable, but only a few paycheques away from financial turmoil. I don't want to be in the 'middle poor' so I'm left with little choice.

I too will be voting Green because after seeing what these three parties before have done with our country I believe it is time for a real change and maybe a shake up is what Canada needs right now. There is too much going on where it is about the parties benefiting from winning the election and not our Country. We have to stop accommodating our foreign policy and think of our nation first and foremost. Harper, Mulclair and Trudeau have one thing on their minds, getting that pension. I'm not against letting in foreign workers as the harper govn't seems to do so freely but maybe check your unemployment rate and the number of people on welfare first before we go ahead with this plan. Vote Green!!!
