Thompson tax ideas

Was reading a blurb today about what the City of Thompson is looking at doing re taxes. It includes:
- a 2% hotel tax
- a 2% property transfer tax
so far, nothing that you don't see in some cities around the country..
then:
- a 2% tax on meals in restaurants
- a 2% tax on alcohol served in restaurants
One of their main reasons being that the GST has been lowered 2% over the term of the current Federal government, so people are used to paying it anyway.
I'm curious what people think about this, the latter two restaurant-related items in particular. How would you respond if it were tabled here?
