Have had two messages in last few days from a man with heavy accent wanting to have his call returned, claiming he is from Revenue Canada about suspicious activity in audit and to not try to disregard the message or it will be taken as an offence. Is anyone else getting this?

so it seems to be some kind of scam.

i have heard there are a few CRA scams going around so my bet is that it is not a legit call but if in doubt what you do is never call the number they give you but go and find the listed CRA phone number and call and inquire if there are any issues with your account, my bet is that youd be informed about the recent scam going around and all will be fine

CRA NEVER,phones you. If you owe money from your taxes you will get a notice in the mail that they have done an adjustment. It will also say what line was adjusted. The notice is just like the notice from your tax return with a column of your previous amounts and the adjusted amount.  
These phone calls are all scams!!

I got a real call from the CRA in December and they did leave a message but they gave me their hours of work and what line to call to get them at to get back to them, very professional, not like what the OP stated.  
Turns out I owed a bit from last year due to one of my t4 slips not being sent out till after June!  
So they don't just send letters in the mail sometimes the real CRA offices will call to confirm some things with you.

I work for a tax office and can guarantee the cra does not make phone calls. You would receive a letter in the mail.

I'm getting the same calls. Officer Anderson with a thick accent. 100% scam.

Said his name was Eric Foster, But never once did he mention my name during the call, said "you..." Same recorded message twice.

I have worked for a tax office/accountant for 24 years. They do not phone. You will get an adjustment in the mail first. I have seen adjustments on a lot of things and have done adjustments on a lot of things. They always mail out a reassessment!! I have even heard of the scammers leaving numbers to return close to CRA numbers. If you are unsure, your best bet would be to get the REAL phone number (not from a message), and phone and find out! But again, YOU WILL ALWAYS GET A REASSESSMENT IN THE MAIL!!!
