We went to Winnipeg yesterday and noticed there are large fields of corn not cut down yet. Why? Is it not ripe? What would be the reason? Just curious.

It can be harvested in the winter.

Too wet. Been a long drawn out harvest. We are still doing corn as well.

On my way home from Brandon yesterday morning I noticed flax, wheat, canola, soybeans, sunflowers and corn all still in the fields waiting to be harvested. A combination of excess rainfall and poor drying conditions have made it difficult for some producers to get harvesting done. In a way we may be fortunate in this area, as some areas of the prairies have received excess moisture as well as snowfall, and harvesting may be on hold until next spring.

The corn that is in the fields still is not corn for human consumption. It will be used for feed, silage, etc.
