this is an open letter to any politician who would like to explain something to me...how is it we can give Billions of dollars in funding to other countries...but the Federal Government wont give fair funding for healthcare in our own country...before anyone jumps on me this is not a Liberal bashing thing...it has gone on with ALL federal Governments. I just think it is time to start taking care of our own people!

That grinds my gears too! It is our tax money so we should benefit.

Healthcare funding is provided both PROVINCIAL and FEDERAL. In Canada, long term facilities, hospitals, mental health programs, rehabilitation centres are funded under global budgets and have a spending cap. There is also the Provincial budget: approximately 40% of a provincial budget is spent on Healthcare.  
 
Review the Canada Health Act annual reports they are available to the Public. There you will find what funds are available for each Province and which area of Healthcare those allocated funds are being spent.

While the federal coin going elsewhere is a fair debate it is optional for the federal Government. Just like it is optional for the Federal Government to spend on non First Nations/armed forces health care.  
 
Medicare is a Provincial program and responsibility. Which is one reason it is screwy yet good. The Feds of past signed on to voluntarily pay 50 percent with no oversite or real say . Now it is down to 25 percent give or take and I say with good reason.  
50 percent or 25 percent of blank cheque spending needs a rethink.  
 
Medical inflation is not the same as real inflation. Yet the Feds portion of Medicare has gone well and above normal inflation for near 10 years. Yet the Feds portion of Medicare spending still shrinks for several reasons.  
 
The spending stupid by the provinces is one. If and as has happened a province builds new or spends new health coin on a new "program" the Feds are expected to pay half? With out input or a yes or no. The Provinces decide where health coin goes. Good spending or stupid.  
 
What the last PM offers and Justin Agrees is right. Economic growth. A minimum 3 percent increase each year as a bottom line. This is a Provincial issue and they should spend and tax accordingly. IMO the Feds should drop out pass the healthcare coin into a 100 percent Pharmacare type program and let the provinces stick to their healthcare responsibilities.
