WHY?

Very Sad. It is crimes like this where the death penalty should be in place. Maybe if penalties were harsher people might start thinking about their actions.

There's gotta be something wrong with you upstairs in order to kill someone, period.

Sadly I have to disagree with the idea that one must have something wrong upstairs to kill a person. We, as well as countries all around the world, spend terrific amounts of money every year to prepare and arm people to kill others, we have even sanitized the killing of innocent civilians by using the term collateral damage. In the mind of a murderer, as with goverenments around the world, or with terrorist groups, they all believe they have a valid reason to take the life of others.  
Is it right, no, but that's the way it is, and I doubt if it will ever change even if penalties for crime were extreme.

Not necessarily. Some people are just plain mean. Some just don't care.

comment and ridiculous comparison. How does this have anything to do with the Vince Li matter?  
 
It is so very sad, as this man was a civil servant, providing a service to public and to be killed after waking up the lone passenger and escorting him off his bus at 2am is inconceivable.

Probably not something the city of Winnipeg transit wanted to have out....

The Vince Li case doesn't have anything to do with this case, unless this defendant is found to be mentally ill too. So far, there's no suggestion that he will be. There is a strong sentiment in our society that people who commit violent crimes like these are not dealt with harshly enough and will be back on the street before they should be, probably in just a few years.  
 
I heard about the investigation into the bus driver and was a bit surprised. It doesn't neccessarly mean that he was guilty, but it is a strange turn of events.

he charges do not really suggest a death sentence so its still sad, not sure if it would be good or bad to be another mental heath case but, now we will never really know if the driver was guilty of his charges and if he was the person who he (maybe)assaulted will never get to see guilty associated with his name

If this is true then perhaps it was not a random act.

perhaps when the investigation has progressed they may learn this was not a random attack, that maybe the perp had some inside knowledge? we may never know. Kind of creepy to think that a Pedophile was working as a public servant.

It's very sad indeed, time to look at making some new protocols to protect those working with so many strangers.
