Does anybody know anything about cannabinol oil specifically for children living with chronic pain? Or know a doctor in Brandon who has an idea about CBD.

but shouldn't you be able to get the information you are looking for at one of the places that sell CBD oil? I don't think there is any doctor well versed in the usage of this product.

I too have been looking for cbd oil...all the cannabis stores say they don't have access to it...you can get a 50/50 capsule , half cbd, half thc, but no straight cbd oil...I would be very interested where to find cbd oil without thc..

I have a pres:cription from my doctor for acquiring cannabis. Cannimed is the company I purchase from.  
cannimed.ca is their website. If you have a pres:cription you can purchase from them. A lot of info on their site about all different products. CDD THC and THCA. I would recommend you check their site out for actual info, with out depending on hear say.

Must be purchased from a licensed producer. I am surprised you can’t get it in the stores in Brandon.  
 
I have a few family members with pres:criptions and they get their CBD oil from them. One orders from Canntrust and another orders from Delta9 I believe.

Please, please, please do not get a prescription medication from another person and give it to a child. Please.

Please, please do not suggest this. Technically it is illegal to use pres:cription products not prescribed to you.  
When an individual receives a Medical Marijuana pres:cription and card, it is for that individual's use ONLY, not an access for any person they know to use it.  
 
I think you are going to have a VERY difficult time finding a doctor in Brandon that will to agree to prescribing CBD to a child, especially a child that they have not been the primary physician for. Most doctors will try all other options available before going this route.  
 
Edit - your best bet is to see Rick at Growers & Smokers, from what I have heard he is the guy to see for the information you seek!

if push comes to shove, and driving out west is the better option. there are dispensaries that sell it, doctors to prescribe it and people who sell it on the black market in vancouver.

My understanding is that generally they won't prescibe it for minors as there are suspected substantial risks to brain development who comsume these products, and it's not well-researched as of yet.  
 
The exception is that there are current ongoing studies for children with certain forms of irretractable epilepsy, as they basically have nothing to lose and much potentially to gain (I'm saying this as a parent with a child with epilepsy who's severe epilepsy did a lot of damage to her brain when she was an infant & toddler).  
 
Has the child been to the pain clinic in Winnipeg? While the wait list is long (and I'm not sure they accept pediatric patients), I've heard many people have good success there. Maybe that would be a better place to start. I'm sorry your child has to live with pain, it's hard watching our kids suffer.

Is just CBD oil. Even if it is someone’s pres:cription it is just CBD oil. Lol.  
I would rather someone get some to try from someone getting it directly from a licensed producer than to order who knows what online.  
 
I personally don’t judge a parent who feels the need to give a child CBD oil for pain. There are many parents who have given their child CBD oil for many reasons without the backing of their doctors. Watch any video online or TV show. We don’t know all the details about the child in question and what the issue is or what the parents have/have not tried. It is definitely proven as something that works in many cases.  
 
Not sure how or if a child can get their medical license but go speak to Rick at Growers. He would be the guy to talk to.

Not well-researched? I have no idea where you get your information from. We have been growing cannabis for over 5000 years now. Back in the 1940's is when the true seriousness began with CBD and scientific research. That is almost 80 years of research. In the US it is used on epilepsy patients, and is legal in 50 states. We are just behind the times at the moment. Give it another year of getting this boondoggle of government pot sales and let people get into the edibles. This is where we will start to see benefits. Students will be eating medicated gummy bears instead of taking crazy add medication and such. We just need the fear mongering people to get over themselves.

While I appreciate all of the comments made, I am not looking for opinions on whether or not to give a child CBD. I know there are varying opinions on this but watching my child suffer isn’t an option I’m willing to deal with anymore. No, I will not borrow someone’s prescription or order things online not knowing exactly what it is or isn’t going to do. I do appreciate the feedback, though. I’m just at a dead end in managing my child’s pain and willing to try anything (as long as it’s legal) to make it as easy as possible. Her pediatrician has no idea about CBD but isn’t completely opposed to it. He suggested to speak to a doctor who does have an idea of what CBD is and can do for a child.

The only reason I suggested finding someone with a pres:cription is because of the quality and that you can try it before going further to see if it works.  
 
Go see Rick at Growers. He is amazing with so much knowledge and he can point you in the right direction.  
 
Good luck to you and your child. It is tough watching a family member deal with pain and no way to help. I too would try anything to help my child.

There was a good documentary that was onCNN by DR Sonja Gupta on marijuana called pot vs pills. You can watch it on YouTube. The FDA has approved a cannabis drug for seizures in USA.

So I guess cannabis does help with seizures then? I wonder how?

The medication that the FDA has approved for seizures in the US is called Epidiolex. It is approved for two specific syndromes - Dravet Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. The exact mechanism of action in preventing seizures is not known, but it is understood that cannabinoids interact with many neurotransmitter and neuromodulator systems. There have been lots of anecdotal reports of seizure disorders (and other medical conditions) improving with CBD oil, but studies are still ongoing.

I am curious about CBD from hemp oil, as I was told that it has no THC and should be legally available in Canada without any prescription. I was told that it is very good for pain if you get the right strength.  
 
Is this all true? If so, where do you get that? Can you order from across the border (this person who said these things is a naturopath in the US)?  
 
I am just trying to get straight information. I do realize that although hemp & cannabis are similar, that they are still very different.
