Just curious if anyone has tried anything besides the lotions they suggest to sooth a radiation burn??

try some glaxal base cream/ointment.

as to what you are considering a radiation burn. Was this sunburn or from microwaves or?  
I would suggest that a spray calomine lotion or Lanacane ( a spray antiseptic) would probably be sufficient.  
The best solution for therapy burns would appear to be Vaseline.

Radiation is a form of cancer treatment.

After my radiation treatments I found a few things that helped ease side effects but unfortunately it does just need to heal which can takes weeks. First, try keep your self cool and not get over heated . Also use really gentle soaps when showering and be gentle drying off as your skin is fragile. I tried a lot of different lotions but the only thing that stop the itching and skin crawling feeling was gold bond lotion. As the temperatures get warmer be very careful in the sunlight. I hope you find something that helps you !

The above has helped a couple of my friends with very good success. It is a powder you mix with water and bathe affected areas. Comes in a box with about eight? packages.  
Walmart does show it as available on-line, but pharmacies likely have it also. I have not looked for it in Brandon, but did buy in Ontario and Florida. Wishing you some relief soon.
