Who do you recommend to see for a counsellor that deals with these mental illnesses? I have been struggling lately and need to get this at a manageable level.  
 
I don't want to go to 7th street or use a community mental health worker (been there already). It's not a crisis situation.  
 
I was hoping a private counsellor or EAP as I have it through work.

You have to call for EAP and they set you up with a counsellor in your area that, at least that's how it worked in my experience.

Call your EAP number and it will all come together from there. I had a great experience when I was going through s really difficult time. It wasn't going to work to see someone right away one on one but over the phone was available and I actually preferred it in the end when I did move to seeing someone more local.  
 
Make the call, they are there to support you and my only regret was not calling sooner

Are the worst for me. I tried to e-mail my EAP to get at least a list and then I was going to contact them myself, but they had to do them all through phone. I haven't called. I want to, but I haven't yet.  
 
I have been meaning to check out the support group that Mood Disorders of Manitoba hosts. Just haven't been able to find one in my schedule.

I am interested in finding someone to talk to as well, but I don't know what EAP stand for...

EAP stands for Employee Assistance Program - it is considered a 'health benefit', and as such not every employer has it. If you have a medical benefit plan (ie- that covers prescriptions, physio, etc), there may be an associated EAP program. Usually the EAP program connects people with a private counselor (not RHA/ Mental Health Services) and the cost is covered.

SarahJayne13 you are not alone. I've seen my family doctor, but can't manage to make the phone call to EAP even though I need to and want to. I'm sure it seems silly to others, but your fellow sufferers get it.

Look into counselling for sure but you can also adjust your diet to help as well. Cut out sugar, and for carbohydrates only eat complex carbs. Also, look into probiotics and prebiotics. Lots of research coming out that say they can be beneficial in treating anxiety and depression.
