What obgyn did you have? Which would you recommend? Any experiences especially for high risk first time pregnancies??

I had Dr. Akintola and he was wonderful. I wasn't a high risk pregnancy but delivery wasn't as smooth as it could have been and he helped keep me calm and everything went as good as it could have. I chose him after multiple recommendations and will go to him again. He's very patient and gentle. From what I hear though you can't go wrong with any of the 4 doctors! They all just gave different personalities but are all very qualified.

I loved Dr Atkintola, he was grest. . Dr Shumigan delivered my second but I didn't really like that I never saw him again after the birth. I've heard good things about all of them it just depends on your situation and personality.

is for Dr. Helms. I found him to be great. He is very straight forward, which some people don't like but I found it refreshing. We went over every scenario... I felt very prepared going in. I had a wonderful birth experience with him. My friend was high risk and had him, and was the reason I went to him!I did however hear he is off for 2 months, so not sure when he is back.

Dr adkintola (sp?), Dr helms and dr sutter over the process of having 1 baby and almost done cooking #2 . All had there strength. Dr adkintola was calm and soft, but didn't talk much, which I didn't like. Dr helms is very blunt (which I like) but he may push c section more (never did with me, but so I've been told by others) and he's super fast with visits but he's a great doctor, knows his stuff, but won't throw pitty parities (he delivered my first). Dr sutter is great, experienced, and she takes her time with you, but you'll have to wait 2 hours to see her on appointment days, so that can kinda suck. There is a change happening with dr sutter, I can't remember if she's stoping her practice, or not, but something is changing come January (forgive my lack of knowledge on that). I've also had 1 of the new female doctors, forget her name. She was good, can't say much about her as I only saw her once, last week...but she was super fast with her visits aswell and I had to wait a loooong time to see her too (which was strange as there was no one in the waiting room at that time..) but obvisouly something more pressing took her time at that moment. All doctors have their strengths, and weaknesses. And you will have to find why suits you. I like someone like helms who is short, to the point, blunt and will get the job done, others see that he's not "sensitive" enough where as I didn't like adkintola as much because he was soft, and "fluffy" (sorry lack of better word, and NOT meant as insult, just meaning 'gentle' of sorts. He's a great doctor too ), and I didn't like that as much. So it all really depends on you and what makes you comfortable.

High risk x4 kids for me, and I wouldn't choose a different doctor. I have had some contact with a couple of the other ones, and had shunmugam deliver 2 of my kids. I did like him as well, but would still choose Helms.  
 

I am a health care professional and can say that all of the OBGyns in Brandon are excellent. When it is time to deliver, you will get whoever is on call, regardless of who you have seen during your pregnancy.

I think they are all good, it's just about finding one who suits your personality and can care for your particular needs effectively.  
 
Ie. Some people think Helms is too harsh or blunt. For me, that was never problem.  
Shunmugam is very soft spoken, and compassionate, and some people really need that.

My doctor for all of my children was Dr Shunmagun. I really like that he is calm and to the point even during delivery. I also like that he asks you what you would like in terms of a delivery plan and never tried to sway you one way or another. I had a c-section with my first due to some complications but was allowed to try a vbac with my second which was successful. 3rd baby was a vbac and hoping the same for my 4th baby in a few months. I have no problem recommending him.

Is definitely my choice. He's been my dr for 2 babies and other issues too and he's fabulous. He's very through and takes things very seriously. I wouldn't give him up for anything.
