There has been an outbreak of whooping cough in the southeast portion of Manitoba. The infant child of a former anti-vaxxer contracted the potentially deadly ailment. The mother now believes that the anti-vaxxer movement put her daughter's health at risk.

I am happy that she has had the courage to abandon her former views and side with science and wellness rather than quackery and hysteria.

so basically she was uneducated but felt she should have the right to make her own decisions based on what she heard through others and now she is mad at her friend and the whole anti vaxers lmao...by the article this girl was barley on any side but had friends on both sides, didnt research and now figures everyone should be forced to be vaccinated because her kid got sick  
 
honestly this is why we have laws that take away personal freedoms, to many people will not make up their own educated mind then blame others when something goes wrong  
 
what she should have done was learn about the additives anti vaxers are afraid of and learn the risks and then decide if she wanted to expose her baby to the unvaccinated friend, then LIVE with her decision

The thing is, anyone who bothers to educate themselves should immediately be able to realize that not vaccinating is stupid and reckless. Why put your kids at risk of life threatening diseases that have been cured for hundreds of years?

For the public health nurse that this woman took her frustrations out on.  
 
I know I was hospitalized at about two years old for whopping cough. My mother never really talked about it so I do not know all the details of why I got it - not sure if I was immunized and was one of the unlucky ones that was not at full coverage or if I had not been immunized - but I do know I have never missed a set of shots since. So not sure if my mother was an antivaxxer that changed her mind after my hospitalization or I was a fluke case.  
 
There may be information overload out there these days, but people really need to speak to doctors and health care professionals and get multiple opinions before getting so riled up.  
 
I think it is especially bad these days when celebrities are so vocal about medical issues. Just look at Jenny McCarthy - the was rampaging about how immunizations caused her son's autism. Think of how much harm she may have done being so outspoken - only to do a nearly complete 180 when it was discovered that her son really did not have autism. Now she is on the side of vaccinations....when people are so prone to listen to celebrities as gospel, and then they flip flop like that it is very scary.

People need to listen more to science, and less to celebrities and Facebook.

Great point, ultraguy. It is astounding what some people will consider to be an authority. Why listen to the Canadian Medical Association, an organization representing over ten thousand doctors, when there is some publicity-seeking self-serving celebrity, with no medical training, offering their opinions ?

I had no idea that family doctors and public health nurses made that much on doing vaccinations.

They have saved millions of lives with vaccines. They are stressing the importance of vaccinating to save your life and your childrens' lives, not to make money and make you sick or autistic...lmfao..  
 
Educate yourself and quit listening to pseudoscience, lies and conspiracy theories.... none of them have proof to back them up.  
 
The levels of formaldehyde is less than in an apple - the trace amount of mercury in certain vaccines is less than what is already in your system naturally. The "Dr" who linked vaccines to autism has been discredited and proven to have lied and faked his data... there is NO| evidence to back up any of the anti-vax idiocy.  
 
Quit listening to the fear mongers and research the facts..  
 
And if you think your "facts" are correct, a link to a reputable and verifiable source would be appreciated.

Maybe the big pharma companies make money but vaccines are covered under basic medical care. So I don't see what's the big deal about a company who uses the money they make for research to help with bettering their products.

Im not sure if you are for or against but i read the additives as no big deal as most are found in the body anyway, you can believe this article about that or one of the many others about these substances in conjunction with vaccines or alone

Autism has increased in recent years, but its been said that this increase could be largely attributable to changes in diagnostic practices vs growth in autism prevalence.  
 
Any kind of big pharma conspiracy is ridiculous and flawed logic, there would be much more money to be made in treating mass epidemics of disease vs a single shot of vaccine, which I read has very low profit margins.

They never let the facts get in the way of a good story, too bad it is putting so many children at risk.
