I have never asked a question on here, so please no negative comments, just looking for advice.  
So I've had an MRI done, and my DR told me I have quite a few herniated discs in my neck and the one is quite large. She is referring me to a back surgeon.  
Not sure how long it will take to get to see the back surgeon, but I am overwhelmed with everything.  
Has anyone had experience with this?  
What kind of questions are important to ask, (I have a million).  
How long does it usually take to get to see a specialist.  
 
My DR seemed quite concerned and kept saying we need to do this sooner than later.  
I guess any advice will help. Kind of freaking out just a tad. haha

Write all your questions down on a piece of paper. Take a family member or friend with to your appointment and make sure to ask all your questions and have your family member or friend take notes.  
 
Remember to take with to your appointment a list of current medications you are on. It helps to write out any previous surgeries, blood transfusions etc. too. If you have seen a chiropractor or are in Physiotherapy make sure to mention this to the Doctor.

I had a herniated and a ruptured disc from a rearend accident. Had so many issues for several years. Finally got an MRI....referred to Dr DeMeulenaere. Best surgeon as far as I'm concerned. He was going to do fusion, I asked about artificial discs. That's what I received and couldn't be more happy I had that done. Do lots of investigating on the internet regarding the surgery. Prepare yourself. I had nerve pain prior to this...felt like my fingers were going to blow off....had it done...pain was gone. Go for it. You won't regret it.

Its nice to hear a positive outcome. Definitely need to bring someone with me. I know I will forget half of it even with questions in hand.

I have the same prob and have seen 2 different surgeons at HSC and the second one told me it needs to be done asap. Had my appointments cancelled 6 times. Just had it cancel led last week. Good luck getting an appointment. Sorry for your pain but mine has been 8 years now. Pain never subsides.
