Crosswalks.. Does anyone see them?

I never do these discussions..
However my patients is being worn thin!
I am currently a stay at home mom, who by choice walks as my form of trasportation nearly all the time. My daughter and I will start from our home near Vic and 34th and go wherever need be to complete our daily errands. Alot of the time we take Victoria going east to Superstore, sometimes furhter. I use crosswalks religioiusly and I dress in bright colours often to be seen.
Why is it every time I use a cross walk I shake my head?
I am not about to push my daughter into the middle of Victoria to get motorists(you know who you are) to see me and stop!
Sometimes I will be waiting at the corner for what honestly feals like 10 min. Other times(like today) a nice motorist will stop and I will continue across the street(quickly with a polite waive I might add).. but as I am crossing the first lane an impatient vehicle in the second/turning lane will whoosh right past me, cutting me and my stroller carrying my daughter off. This is followed sometimes by an additional motorist in the second lane who isnt paying attention and follows the original vehicle who cut us off.
This is rediculous! And very dangerous... I feal like pulling my stoller behind me first of all to insure that if we were hit I would be out infront atleast. I am boggled.. I am NOT impatient, and I respect the vehicles on the road often waiving them to proceed first. I wait at lights just like everyone else, and I have lived in very much larger urban areas such as Vancouver and Calgary. Why does it seem everyone driving in Brandon is a.In a rush/impatient b.Only thinking about themselves.
Next time your driving please take the time and look for crosswalk ahead signs.. One that I ALWAYS have a problem with is on Vic near Timmy's and Giant Tiger. If your one of those people who see me starting to cross and speed to get through and such.. maybe you should be planning ahead and leaving earlier to get there faster intstead of endangering our lives.
Times have changed.. I know my daughter will be older than I was before being able to go on outings that require crossing bussy streets without me. This is definately not because I will be worried of her competince to cross the road either.
Please respect everyone on the road!
Thanks
PS. This is to create awarness on the topic and not to point fingers.. there are alot of you out there who are amazing and always alert while driving - THANKS
