Just want to know what the signal is like for these 3 providers? I understand Virgin mobile is with Bell, Koodo is with Telus and Fido is Rogers.  
I assumed the Bell and Telus towers are better overall in town, in rural areas and across Canada? How are the reception like travelling up north towards the Dauphin area?

Anyone?

With Bell/Rogers you have a teeny bit of cellular to about Rivers corner...the data fades to nothing after the airport..then nothing til Minnedosa.There's a Telus tower before Rapid City.After Mdsa there's a R/B tower at Onanole which fades fast thru the park...then nothing until halfway thru the park with short lived signal..then towers at Dauphin.Telus may share all these but I may be wrong.

With Black Friday here, between all the carriers in Brandon, which would offer best options. Plus which is offering best service overall?

Rogers Cellular and have signal from Brandon all the way to Dauphin, even through the park and what was a dead zone between Rivers and Minnedosa. Never have problems with them! Have a regular cellphone - no booster or anything like that.

I'm with Rogers too, and the only place ever that I've noticed that I don't have a signal is in Sprucewoods and the bowels of HSC. I just have a regular phone too. I don't have data if that makes a difference - just calls and texting.

Xplore mobile all the way 7 gigs 45.00 per month

Was with them for 10 years then was forced to port over to xplore mobile and I ported back to Virgin mobile in a week. Their coverage is amazing, even get service in Walmart when most don’t, no hidden fees, great rates. Xplore mobile doesn’t support iPhones yet so you lose your voicemail and iMessage features, only get 3G coverage and they have zero service in Saskatchewan just look at their coverage maps. You can’t call places from outside MB without being charged roaming and long distance Rates. I couldn’t be happier being back with Virgin mobile. And yes I have had mts and Rogers in the past as well. Guess it’s all personal preferences. Just do your research. Sometimes cheapest plan isn’t alway best coverage and service.

How is Koodo's current coverage in Brandon? I hear they use Telus as main provider. Looking at them since I have Rogers and if upgrade, forced to take the new plans which I find too expensive compared to what I have...

I think Koodoo is fine since they use the Telus towers. From my Android app, I can see there are quite a few Bell and Telus towers compared with Rogers. I switched to Fido and so far, it's not bad.

We have 3 phones and internet with MTS and have an unlimited data plan. I was on the phone today with MTS and they explained that from now on, whenever I upgrade one of the phones on our current plan or start a new contract without buying the phone outright(!), we lose the unlimited data plan for that phone because it’s being phased out. Do any of the providers out there still offer unlimited data on new contracts with “less than new price” to be paid for the newest iPhones at the start of contracts?!

I think that unlimited data is not an option with any of the cell phone providers any longer. But I would suggest you look at the data usage that you are currently using and see how much data is being used. I stream music daily and reach the 15GB limit by the end of the month. I have unlimited plan currently but 15GB is the limit that Bell/MTS has until they throttle your speed. So I figure I will likely be able to make due with a 15GB plan whenever I need to upgrade.
