Staying vs going

I have had multiple contacts with both companies:
- don't bother with the stores, they are either not informed or aren't in a position to help with information
- if you don't want to switch, call the number in the Telus letter and tell them that
- if you refuse the switch, there is no cost to you
- if you accept the switch, and then later decide Telus isn't meeting your needs and want to leave, you will have to pay out the cancelation fee, same as if you decided to leave your MTS contract three months ago (or if you stick with BellMTS and later decide you wanted to switch to Telus or any other provider)
- it is not very clear whether the 'legacy' unlimited data packages that some of us have will be possible to retain in the future. I have had a Telus phone person tell me that as long as I don't take the 'free' or 'cheap' option when my current phone gives up (ex. S8, if I took it for $300 instead of $100 that's called 'Premium Plus') then I should be able to keep that legacy data package, or if I bought a phone outright (either from Telus or at another retailer and then had it activated). They would not commit to that in writing, so it's not worth a lot. BellMTS was less willing to commit, the agent said today that I would be subject to 'in market' plans when I replace my phones, without the 'premium plus' or 'buy outright' caveats. But the clerk in the store did say that if BellMTS can make money off unlimited data plans, they would likely keep them (referred to BellAliant maintaining old Alliant plans.) The clerk also referred to 50GB use as 'abuse' of the plan (I thought the point of unlimited was to be, we'll, unlimited, and not subject to judgments of when you have used 'too much')!
Hope this helps.
Sorry for any spelling errors, it's been a long day.
