I've heard that lava rocks / volcanic rocks are quite great at removing bad smells. All that's required is that you place the rocks in a bowl and leave them somewhere in a room that smells bad and, after 1-3 days, all the stink should go away. The only thing you must remember is that after a month you must place the rocks out into the sun for an entire day to 'recharge' them so they can keep working at removing smells.  
 
I was somewhat skeptical about this at first but then I read the science behind how it works at removing smells and it's very convincing. I think I'd rather do this than masking smells using an air freshener. Not only would it be cheaper, it also would be preferable as I don't tend to like the smell of air fresheners. I usually always like the pine air fresheners, but most of the others tend to be nauseating.  
 
Anyway, anyone know where in town one can find lava rocks? Also, have any of you ever used them to remove smells? If so, how did they work for that?

That place in the mall has them. It's right across from the old Safeway (where you buy vitamins and more natural stuff) sorry the name escapes me right now

Lava rock is what's in your gas BBQ. Every hardware store in town will have them.

We tried them. It didn't work in our case. It was very disappointing as it did sound convincing. I am not sure where we found them.

You won't find many BBQ that use lava rocks anymore (most use metal heat spreaders over the burners now), therefore you may have a hard time finding lava rocks in hardware stores.

Kitty litter or zorball ?sp will absorb smells.
