Just wondering guys what''s the best place to buy couches in the Brandon area?  
 
I was told 3 years ago to go Ashley’s furniture store so I did. I bought a “leather” sectional really nice piece at the time I was so happy with but now 3 years later it’s just peeling and Ashley’s told me it’s not cover under the warranty even though I paid about 200 dollars for the warranty plus.  
 
So anyway what are your thought on this? What’s your experience dealing with Ashley’s?  
 
I went today and checked Lions and Dufresne told them my whole story and they recommended to but couches made by a Canadian manufacturer called Deco-Rest would you recommend buying this couches?  
 
I’m looking for something that will last me at least 5 years, I’m trying to stay away for leather or any bonded leather product for a while I think. Thanks in advance for your responses guys I appreciate it!

I have had great luck with Decor-Rest. Lazyboy was good too. Prefer the firmness of the cushions with Decor-Rest.

But if you want good service before and after your purchase, buy at Kullbergs.

We buy all our furniture from them! Very easy to deal with and sell quality furniture.

I think I have the second couch, or a very similar one. I love it! Very comfortable, and while I haven't had it too long, I have three teenage boys plus a dog and cat who put a lot of wear on it, and it's standing up great!  
 
I buy from Dufresne and have always had great service. Realistically, within Brandon the 'big' name stores are all going to have similar quality products and services (warranties, etc), so I go with the quality of customer service I've received. Over many years Dufresne has always treated us great vs other stores (I will not shop at the Brick because of shitty customer service I've received).

Do all the stores have "similar" (or even the exact same stuff rebranded) products, I have seen the same big delivery trucks drop at all of them, including Kullbergs.  
 
So it makes it increasingly difficult to boycott or support one company when they are all selling the exact same product.  
 
Dufresne is the only one in town we have received consistently good service from, including warranty work.  
 
That said, you still can get Canadian made (at least mostly so - some components are made in Canada, some still made over seas unfortunately). If you can't find fully Canadian made products then there are some excellent brands out of the US.  
 
FYI, Costco online carries Canadian and US made products, just do a little reading. The only thing that sucks is you cannot see or feel the products before they get to you. Though they do have excellent delivery and return policies. And you can apparently shop Costoc.ca without a membership.

Agreed on the brand. All stores sell a few brands. We purchased our Decor Rest couch from DuFresne last year and could not be more pleased with the quality. It's a year old and very pleased that it still looks new. I liked that I could pick the firmness of my cushions (soft, medium, or firm). We custom ordered our size of couch, arm shape, leg color/shape, and material. It did cost more but I would do it again.  
 
I'm planning on buying the same brand to replace my basement couch.

Go and see any of the friendly sales people at Kulbergs. The best quality and great service. Delivery and set up are free.

i bought my sofa from the brick in 2012 and it hasnt sagged, faded, torn, or discoloured in any way. Trust me when i say with two teens its well used but have had excellent luck with it and the price was definetly right too. Its a microfibre one.

did you ask to talk to the manager,my niece went through the same thing .went there in person talked to the manager,had pics on her phone ,she got a brand new couch same day

How old was the couch tho? I know if it is less than a year old they will in fact give you a brand new couch, mine is over 3 years old with very light use and paid over 3500 for  
it. I'm very mad at Ashley's right now.

I totally understand your frustration. You wouldn't mind paying more if you actually got a better product, but this is not always the case. In our case, the leather on our couches is actually nice and thick and has stood up over the at least 8-10 years we've had it. The real kicker? It's been fixed at least three times. FOR THE GARBAGE THEY BUILT IT OUT OF INSIDE. The entire insides are made of MDF (cardboard/pressed sawdust garbage) and through normal wear and tear has broken, sagged, and just been a pain. The arms on both couches, one of them the middle, and we are not real heavy people, nor do we jump on them or do anything other than normal furniture use. And after the first two fixes, the retailer decided the 'lifetime warranty' would no longer be honoured. (Def won't be going back to THAT place)  
 
My frustration, is you can't see what you're getting. So. Next couch is possibly this Decor-Rest you've talked about. Also I've had great service and product quality at Dufresne.  
 
On the bright side, I do still like my furniture, the leather looks great, and they've basically been rebuilt with actual wood and cushions re-stuffed.... so I basically got my good quality furniture in the long run! (gotta look on the bright side!)

Judging from the style of furniture you are looking at, Brandon Business Interiors might be worth looking at. They carry similar furniture items to Urban Barn or Stylus. (Solid wood frames, really good quLity)  
 
They don't have a big showroom, but their service is great. They would probably have some customized options as well. (Eg: fabrics, legs)

I just had the couches for only 2 years and 10 months, they took forever for delivery I remember now. You guys think I should go to the manager and ask what's goin on?  
I called them about 6 months ago and they sent a specialist down to take pictures, after about 8 weeks of waiting and no answer I decided to call them and ask them if they were going to fix them, they told me that peeling it's absolutely not covered under warranty and that's why they didn't called me.  
I posted a picture so you guys can see how the couches look like.

I love Leon's. They always honor their word and have a great selection of solid well built furniture. I always buy from them. Had bad experiences at a few other places. I can honestly say I don't know about Kullbergs from personal experience, but have heard good reports on them too.
