Hi.. I have a question about installing baseboard heater.. I am considering of install 2500w baseboard heater.. As you know, people usually have been using 14/2 wire and 15 amp double pole breaker when they install 2500w baseboard heater  
 
By the way, I am just curious. Can I use 12/2 wire and 15 amp double pole breaker when I install 2500w baseboard heater? (Is it acceptable by CODE?)  
 
because I have 12/2 wire and 15 amp double pole breaker already so I don't want to spend another money for buy 14/2 wire or 20 amp double pole breaker.

I would use 12/2 wire for a 2500 watt heater and 20 amp would be better especially if the heater has to run quite often. There is more strain on 14/2 wire and 15 amp breaker if it runs often.

No, do not use a 20 amp breaker if the heater is the only draw on this circuit.  
 
A 2500 W heater draws 10.41 amps on a 240v circuit.  
 
A 15 amp breaker is rated up to a continuous load of 12 amps.  
 
Over sizing your breaker defeats the purpose of a breaker, as it may not trip early enough if there is a problem.  
 
As for the wire, 14/2 is sufficient, but it is permissible to use 12/2 on a 15 amp breaker, so if you already have the wire, go nuts.

The code says you need a permit and an electrician.

A permit to add a heater, and 100.5 in a 100 zone is speeding.
