Corrotted kitchen faucet

The picture below shows my kitchen tap from the back in the middle where the faucet is ( not back of valves). Seems no problem of leakage now. Just wondering if the corroded part can be just cleaned and filled with kaulking or something or the whole kitchen faucet needs to be changed to a new faucet?
