My girlfriend and I are currently remodelling out basement. The current staircase is a mess. The first step down is a massive 11 inch step. then it goes on to being about 8 inches a step to the bottom one. Then on the last step it is about 5.5 inches. The reason for this is to drop the steps down a few inches for head room from the upstairs floor and all the duct work. So my question is whats better having steep stairs but lots of head room, or having steeper then average stairs but little head room. Im 5' 11" and i have to duck to get down right now. Any other suggestions would be swell. Also companies that specialize in this kinda stuff would be helpful too!
