You should ask if an agreement is necessary. If there's no kids and no-to-very-little assets, and you've both divided everything to your mutual satisfaction, it may not be needed. When I divorced years ago, that was the case. I was even able to get a mortgage etc on my own after we separated, but before we divorced, with no separation agreement as long as I could establish we had separated our finances.
