Doulas I know always have a second "job"/interest or are doing it as a supplemental income. They are not in it for the money, but instead have become doulas to help educate and otherwise support the mom and family.
If you would like a job/career that pays a steady salary and is roughly in the same way of thinking, I think you might be better off looking into midwifery. I do not know what they make here, but I found a link that put BC midwives at $60,000-$90,000/yr. " |

That's pretty much what I figures in a smaller area like Brandon. I also know that Doula services can be quite expensive, and in a city like Brandon, likely most people don't want to pay for those types of services.
I would imagine in a larger city you would have more of a chance of making it a career, rather than just a second job.
As a stay at home Mom, I could likely make the hours of a doula work, and I know I would very much enjoy doing something like this, but when I do go back to my full time job, there is no way I could make time for this as a second job.
