How do you stop birds from building a nest on your garage???

Keep the door closed other than to enter or exit with your vehicle

It’s the door to walk into the garage. They are building above the door frame outside. Under the over hang.

Try a hanging a fake owl, they keep the birds away. I have seen these at Walmart, Home Hardware etc. Or garage sales.

Knock it down...

Keep knocking it down...eventually they get discouraged and look elsewhere to build. Worked for us; we only had to knock it down once and they (swallows) left.

Is what I used under my deck, just cut to size and staple in place. It’s a cheap and easy fix.

If it is swallows building, you can staple up a couple of plastic shopping bags, after knocking down the nest. The bags flap with the breeze and the birds will move on. We just let them build anywhere on any of our buildings - so tell them to come on down - there is lots of real estate on my property! LOL!

Try putting up a netting, like fish netting over the overhang so that the birds can't get under it. I've seen hospitals and bigger buildings in Winnipeg doing this to keep the birds from nesting under their overhangs and such! I'd rather do this than knocking down a nest that may have babies in it!

I use some cooking oil spray and spray where they are trying to build. They move on when their stuff doesn’t stick!

I knocked it down, and then sprayed the area generously with perfume. I am sure any body spray would work as well. They never came back!

When I read your title (Knock it down), I first thought you meant the garage - lol. Well, that would solve it, but a bit extreme!

Well it’s a bird protected by the Migratory Birds Conventional ACT (Federal) and it is technically illegal to harm these birds, their nests and their eggs...punishable by $2,000.00 fine and a day less than 2 years in jail..... its true. But I won’t tell anybody. Spraying the area with something unpleasant to the birds works well. I can do without streamers and plastic bags hanging from my buildings.

Hang old CD's on fishing line, the flash scares them off. Elvis ones work the best.

We put those pinwheel spinners out front when we moved to the country and the swallows slowly disappeared, also make sure you take their nests down , just knock with a broom, it works. They will go somewhere else.
