Aggressive Dog

We have been having quite a lot of trouble with our 2.5yr old bulldog lately w/ aggression issues. He loves people, but is not so crazy about other dogs. It seems that he is only okay w/ the ones that he has grown up with. I think that he is definatly an alpha male and likes to be in control, and when he's not/situation changes he pounces. He has gotten into at least 3 fights w/ one of my parnents dogs and you have to pry him off, if not i think that he would kill her.
It is getting really out of hand, we don't let him off leash at all and we try to keep away from other dogs. I know that this isn't really helping the situation, but what else am I going to do? I don't want anyone's dog to get seriously hurt.
Please help!
