Wow! That's early for goldfinches. Can't wait to see them in my yard!

Goldfinches are back in my yard now too!  
Still haven't seen barn swallows here though so I haven't put out my hummingbird feeders yet.  
For anyone that has put them out already, have you seen any hummers?

Looking for purple Martins anyone have any yet ?

I saw a goldfinch today. I also have a couple of barn swallows, but no hummingbirds yet!

Has anyone ever seen a Cardinal in the Brandon area in the summer? That’s one I’d like to see. Orioles should be around in a week or so.

Cardinals are not generally known to be in this area or in Manitoba at all historically. But there has been some spotted in Winnipeg here and there over the years. I remain hopeful I'll catch a glimpse of one someday.

I had my first hummingbird at my feeder earlier tonight!

Happy to hear you seen one! I’ve been anxiously awaiting their arrival !

Orioles are back now too! I guess that's the last of the birds that come back for summer?

We finally have hummingbirds at the feeder. I haven't seen an Oriole yet but I'm sure it won't be long now that the hummingbirds are here. We have had rose breasted grosbeaks visiting our yard the last few days as well.  
And yes, I think that's it now, can't think of any other ones I usually watch for.

Had a hummingbird at the feeder yesterday afternoon.  
Did not see it today

I saw 2 Orioles in my yard this morning.

We have a Northern Mockingbird hanging out in our yard today. Not unheard of for Manitoba but still considered a rare wanderer here. This is not a good picture, taken quickly with a poor camera through a rainy window. Will post a better one if I manage to get it.

Oooo, that's cool! I love to see new birds I've never seen before! Hard to tell size, but that looks smaller than I thought a mockingbird would be?  
I have noticed a few different birds posted on the Manitoba Bird and Wildlife facebook page that I've never seen in Manitoba yet. Cardinals, different warblers (Blankburnian, Cape May, Magnolia, Tennessee), Indigo bunting, different wood peckers, various owls, etc!

Yes, we were excited to see something different! We spent some time going through our bird guide to figure out what it was. Size I would say is about the same as a robin.  
My daughter is sure she saw a Tennessee warbler yesterday but she didn't get a picture. I would love to see a cardinal and an Indigo bunting!

Can someone tell me what kind of bird this is? Curious, it’s been at my window all day.

It's a chipping sparrow

I googled chipping sparrow and it’s shows the same bird! Thank you! I had no idea what it was. I’m really curious as it’s been hanging around the window all day, since early morning. Seen another one but it just came and went. It is a cute little guy.

I saw a young oriole yesterday May 20th. I don't feed birds anymore since the City chopped down my maple tree (I have no trees around). But I saw this little oriole fly into my patio area (which is a cover-like area with 3 sides. It was flitting around the same way when birds get caught up. We checked around the yard (we're in a condo) and it was not there. It was smaller than most orioles I've ever seen. Get your feeder out they just appear (no telling when) and they are looking for their sugar water.

I wish cardinals were in this area. I've never seen one, coming from Hamilton area, where they are plentiful, it was one bird I truly miss. I have been here over 40 years. But I will say this, about 15 yrs ago I saw a scarlet taninger (spelling). Yes, I couldn't believe my eyes, so rushed home, got my husband and it was still there when we returned. It was on Marquis Crescent. Never seen one since. I was told that sometimes these birds get blown off course when returning to Canada.

A Red headed Woodpecker has been at our feeder for the last several days.
