So we were surprised by a live Garder Snake that presented itself in a small local school gym (probably came out of an adjoining storage room). It was tossed outside but I didn’t have the heart to let it die so I have a snake in a storage bin now…  
 
Is anyone equipped to take it in Brandon or the Brandon area?

I would try the Reptile Gardens - and if they aren't equipped to take it, maybe they would have a suggestion as to who might be?

Throw it outside there are trillions of them in the world one less isn’t going to make a difference.

You don’t have the heart. Trust me most women will place the snake outside and won’t lose a bit of sleep. Get rid of it.

OP didn't ask what to do with it, they asked if anyone was equipped to take it in and help.

If nobody steps up, you could keep it at the school under/for educational purposes, so students could learn all about the garter snakes of Manitoba. If not your school, maybe another school would appreciate it. It would make for a good and relevant study subject. The catch is to return it from where it came one you are done... so outside in spring would work.  
 
You would need to have a dish of water for it. They can swim and will hunt for fish (like minnows & guppies) under water. It is fun to watch them hunt. You will also likely need to find other food that they eat. Make sure that the lid is breathable, but secure. They can get out of things you wouldn't think they could.  
 
If someone has terrarium you could borrow, that would be ideal.
