Animals Wearing Clothing/Footwear/Etc.

Why do you dress your animals in clothes?
Put aside it is winter as I've seen people's pets (They are PETS, not children!) in clothes, footwear and accessories year round.
I have had birds, fish, cats and a dog. I am by no means an animal hater.
My opinion and first thought is "Oh those poor animals, being degraded and humiliated. He/she needs to have a kid and let that animal be."
Please educate me.
