How to Cope - Missing Pet

Banjo, my one year old Yorkshire/Terrier cross decided to go on an adventure yesterday. Sadly, you wonderful folks here at eBrandon will be of no help in finding the little guy as I live in Fort Garry in Winnipeg.
I was away, and my roommate decided since it was a nice day to just leave the screen closed and the glass patio doors open while he was doing dishes. Banjo either saw a rabbit (tons of them on the river bank here) or someone walking another dog and dug his way through the screen and escaped.
I was home from work about 20 minutes after, and joined my roommate in the search. Basically, I've spent the last 31 hours walking all over the neighborhood searching, calling, talking to passersby, and putting up over a hundred posters.
I have called both dog pounds in the city, pet stores, pet rescues, vet clinics, and the Winnipeg Humane Society. I've left multiple missing ads online, as well as a written one in the Free Press.
For now, I've left a coat of mine out on a chair on my patio in hopes that he'll make his way home and curl up on it.
We haven't heard or seen anything, and I've worried myself sick. Has anyone else had to go through this? Any tips, advice, anything else I should be doing to help get my best bud home safely?
