Sadistic dog beater in Souris... who is it?

Last night my (step) daughter went out with her children and "hubby" for a few hours. They left their Dachshund in his kennel in their bedroom. When they came home, the dog had been removed from the kennel, severely beaten causing multiple trauma and he was left back in the kennel.

Before anyone asks, there was pools of his blood in several rooms in the house and the kennel had been moved. He was beaten with a hair brush - one blow causing his jugular vein to "balloon" in his neck. He is a small dog, about the size of a house cat.

Nothing was stolen and she has no enemies that would do this sort of thing for "revenge" - this was a sadistic, soulless person who entered the house to get a thrill beating a poor defenseless dog nearly to death.

I am offering $100 myself and a friend of hers is offering an additional $100 if anyone can name this person.That is $200 in YOUR pocket to help catch this sadistic lowlife.This amount may grow if the culprit is not caught soon.

Yes, the police were called. Yes, they did a forensic rundown.

And again - NOTHING was stolen - all they did was beat her dog.

That's awful! Did the person break in, or was the door unlocked? Does the dog bark a lot? I'm just wondering if it could have been a neighbour who disliked the dog due to barking? Still a very sick thing to do!

This is sick, and am awful occurrence. However, it certainly doesn't sound like an unprovoked incident. It seems evident that it was directed to send a message, if this were just a sick individual doing it for thrills i doubt you'd ever seen the dog again.

First and foremost I am sending my thoughts and prayers to your family in regards to this attack on not just a pet but a member of the family.
I have relatives that live in and near Souris and will ask them to spread the word if you don't mind.
I hope the person or persons responsible will be caught and held responsible for their actions.

He will recover but I am sure he will never be the same....

I don't think it was a "message" as I said in my OP as there is nothing she does to be "warned" about. My daughter may have people that don't like her "a lot" but no one with ANY reason to do this... she is a typical working mother with young children and pets. They recently moved into their new home, so I don't think her neighbor either.

Do any of you people realize that serial killers "practice" on animals when they are younger???

It is sometimes hard to believe how low some people can go. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and that poor defenseless dog. I hope they catch the creep.

I am so sorry. Poor puppy. & terrible for your family too. It does sound kind of targeted though. How did they know where puppy was? How did they get in?

Either way disgusting & I hope they're caught really quickly.

So we should ignore the fact that the person who did this is running around out there?? Don't be ridiculous.

This whole thing is very sketchy. The person who did this would have had to known the dog was there, so to me, it was targeted. Also, it still hasn't been answered as to how they got in the house? Was it locked or open? If this was random, the dog would be either gone or dead. IMO, either someone is sending a message, or the whole truth isn't yet present.

I agree with you, whoever did this is watching and has a grudge against the family. I hope this will be the end of it. Sounds like a real nutter, your family will have to be extra careful and maybe put extra security in place. To go after an animal like that is truly sadistic. I hope the pup has a speedy recovery. It is just so upsetting that someone has intruded into your home and violated your life. Stay safe.

I agree, it sounds pretty sketchy at the very least, and it seems awfully strange that someone would break into a home, and not do anything but torment a dog, not killing it or taking it but just tormenting it. It would take an awful lot of time and energy to gain access to the home and do what we're talking about here without a motive to take anything at all. There's usually a risk/reward mechanism at play, we're not talking about an empty house cause someone went to a lake for the weekend because as OP said they were only gone a few hours either so perhaps it's someone who knows their habits.
Hope the animal is okay in the end but I would be seriously reevaluating some of these people that don't like your daughter "a lot" OP.

Your fam has just been through a terrible trauma. It sucks to be speculated about. But you put it out there. Speculation will come with support & outrage.

Don't forget not all psychos need a reason, so just because it's targeted, doesn't mean your daughter did anything to start this. You also mentioned a "hubby" & kids, perhaps this had something to do with them? Someone who would do something so terrible is not in their right mind.

Nobody is trying to offend anyone here, and we all feel awful for the dog. But when you make something public, people are going to form opinions. You've went so far as to offer an award, yet you're refusing to consider it may not be random. Do you want to find out who did this and why, or do you want to be right?

I know CeeJays daughter and don't think that anyone would have a hate on for her to something like this. My wife first heard about this in the morning from a Facebook post, and said that it just made her sick. Kim was talking to CeeJays daughter today and said that when she saw a picture of what had been done to the dog not only did it sicken her but made her pretty hostile.

Have heard from Mandy that they have raised some money to help out with the cost of treatment, but like has been said this poor dog likely will never be the same.

Don I want to say that first and foremost you are a pretty stand up guy with well thought out opinions most of the time, but I think that it's specious reasoning to not consider that it's not possible for this to be targeted.
All avenues should be explored, and even though from what's being said in this thread she may be a fairly stand up person, it doesn't negate the fact that she's human and as such she or her "hubby"? or maybe a friend or family did or something to the wrong person. As someone who's obviously well thought out most of the time I don't have to try to convince you that sometimes people hold grudges for whatever reason and they act out like animals over trivial stuff.
I'm not justifying it, or condoning it, but even the nicest people in the world have skeletons in their closet. Further I'm not trying to say she was asking for it in some way either, I'm simply saying that even an argument over a parking spot with a complete stranger can get pretty stabby from time to time, you know what I mean? It could very well be that something someone thought was a minor deal was something much more to someone else is all I'm saying.
Now in saying that obviously nothing excuses what happened to the dog, but I think it's best that logically we keep all avenues open until it's been proven otherwise.

I know what your saying, I just feel that if it was a person that had something against the family, or the dog, it is a pretty stupid thing to do. Although I will admit that when people do really stupid things that very little thought goes into the consequences of such actions. Regardless of what this persons thinking was in doing this, it is something that I would view as a concern to everyone.

What difference could it possibly make if the door were locked or not??? If the door were unlocked does that automatically give consent to the moron responsible for beating the dog nearly to death?

Doxies are barkers .. perhaps the moron took offense at the dog barking .. only he/she knows why.

Regardless of the reason, and regardless of how they obained access to the home ... the act in itself is heinous.

It is bad enough when some one kicks or hits a dog. Doing this in some ones home and leaving the poor dog to die is hideous. For all the dog owners out there I hope you find this person or persons.

Just because someone gets targeted it doesn't mean that they have done anything wrong or that they are culpable for the negative attention in any way, shape, or form. Agree with youu Don BUT it's likely a warning and it may not necessarily be about the daughter. Barking issues, forget it I grew up around these dogs and know them very well, they don't have a particularly loud bark, especially in a kennel and in the house in a bedroom, but they are extremely loyal fearless little dogs. I'm sickened and appalled such a coward to take it out on a defenceless animal.
He will need a lot of love, to be able to ever trust a human again and then will bear the mental scars for the rest of his days.
I would be looking to get him a pal like a Doberman and a 12 guage to keep handy.
Because it may just be a human next time.

From outside the box I see a few things that stand out....The person/persons knew you were not home, the family was targeted, it wasn't a random attack on a family's pet. Unless there has been other attacks in the surrounding area.
I know nobody wants to think that this was a targeted incident but look at all the facts that have been provided so far.
This person/persons will be caught, it may not be today, tomorrow, but they will get caught. When the person/persons is caught they will have a whole list of charges to deal with as well as Medical expenses for the treatment and on going treatment of the dog.
I pray for the family affected in this horrible crime and hope sooner than later the person/persons responsible will be caught.

Targeted just means you list any possibilities of someone wanting to do this. Neighbour, Ex, enemy, I'm sure they have thought of that. Otherwise it could be a sick person, kid or otherwise that got some satisfaction in their insanity. Either freaking way I am sure these have been considered. Just keep your eyes and ears open and if you hear anything tell them. Period.

Just throwing it out there.. but maybe it was something "innocent".. maybe the dog got out and got hit by a car. The people knew the dog and tried to put him back in his home. OK after typing it sounds crazy. But we won't know the mind of the person who did this, so we can only speculate.

Hope you find out, if for nothing but peace of mind.

He was locked in his kennel inside the house. Forensics determined he had been beaten with a hair brush. We just want the person responsible regardless of the motive or lack thereof.

I was wondering how they got in too. Just because it might give a clue who they are. I don't think anyone is ok'ing or consenting or deserving this under any circumstances.

AND something like this happened in Souris in 2012?
