Maybe leave the extra money with the vet clinic to be used for some other animal in need?  
Just an idea.  
Great to hear so many people have stepped up to help.

I strongly agree with passing on the extra money to another fur baby in need.Give back as people gave to you

Rather than using any left over funds for a security system, simply lock your doors from here on out.  
 
Additional funds left over should be donated to a rescue/shelter.  
 
Far too many animals are neglected, abused, or abandoned that could use the funds to help them get better or find forever homes.

Those are really good suggestions. But none of us is dealing with this trauma right now. If this family would feel safe in their home with a security system...get a security system. It would be great to then donate anything left to some other worthy cause.  
 
I view a donation as a gift, given from the goodness of my heart. That's all the control I have. I don't think they (the fam) should worry they will get judged for using it for security.

Isn't it more likely that this individual entered the home with the intent of stealing and beat the dog into silence when it wouldn't keep quiet and then left when they realized how badly things had gone.  
 
As sick as that may be it seems more likely than a targeted dog attack (without bringing a weapon)or a practicing serial killer.

I am one of the girls who have set up this account for the Jensen/McGean family. Alot of concern has been brought up about this fundraising effort. A little background on myself, Anyone who knows me know how passionate I am about animals. My animals are like my children and I volunteer alot of time with a local animal rescue. I cannot even imagine if someone broke into my home and hurt any of my children (2 legged or 4 legged) so it really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that myself and Gloria started this  
 
1) yes I do not know the family. We have mutual friends but I have not met them in person. A few people have said it's a scam due to this reason. I can assure everyone the family will receive this money. There should be no doubt about that what so ever. I want to make sure Bruiser's treatment is covered and the family does not need to make a tough decision because a test or a treatment is just out of their reach. Brandy and I keep in contact via text so she is fully away of everything.  
 
2) The funds will be allocated properly. So if anyone is in doubt, please rest assured that the money will be spent as its supposed to be. Any left over, there is a very good plan in place for it that will do good.  
 
This family is currently living in fear that this person will come back. I can't say that I blame them at all. I cannot even imagine what they are dealing with right now.  
 
Gloria and I thank each and everyone of you who have donated and shared. No living being, animal or human, deserves to be treated the way Bruiser was. I saw the aftermath pictures of inside the house........my heart sank.  
 
My point of this is, anyone who has donated or plans to, please rest assured that the money will do exactly as planned. Help Bruiser live a long, healthy and happy life

I feel sick in thinking of what happened to this poor little, innocent dog and I hope the culprit is charged heavily when found. There is no call for armchair CSI investigators to be speculating.  
 
Bruiser, the pup and his family (whom I don't know) are going through enough right now I'm sure.  
 
The support of local communities, whether with words of support or donated in a monetary sense speaks tenfold in getting the word out to hopefully eventually charge whoever had the idiocy and/or lack of morality to enter a home and torture an innocent little dog.

I don't think it's a scam on the part of the fundraisers, however, the dog owner already stated she was going to use any left over money to buy a security system. This, to me, is not an appropriate use of the funds. Any money not going directly to Bruiser's vet bills should be donated to another animal cause, not used for a security system, when in fact their house already has a security system, they just need to turn the lock. I also don't think simply saying "rest assured" is enough for people. I think those that have donated deserve to know EXACTLY where the money is going, and it should only be going to the vet bills.

Don't donate if it bothers you that much. They have been upfront about it all. They aren't a registered charity, u don't deserve to know ANYTHING.  
If you donated, it was to help a family & their pet who has been through a massive trauma. Not so u can be a sanctimonious a-hole, right?

I will say this: Locks only keep out honest people. If two dogs did not stop them from entering, I don't think a locked door will.

Another factor: They have three young children who are terrified. I think they will be for a long time.

Do you never go out and leave your house unattended? You are making an assumption that any possible future break-ins will occur while the occupants are home.

I'm glad you are keeping track. I'm not sure why people are getting defensive regarding wanting to know where the extra money is going, considering the owner wants a new security system. It might be good to update the GoFund me page to include this information so that people know, both the current vet bills and the plans for the money. Nothing wrong with being honest and up front, because being evasive just looks shady. The GoFund me page is at almost $4000, AND people have been donating cash directly to the vet clinic. That's a lot of money from kind hearted people and I wouldn't think it too much to ask to provide them with numbers and facts about where the money is going. Personally, like many here, I would much rather the extra money help other animals in need then upgrade the couple's home. Sorry if that makes me an evil person.

I don't think that makes you sound like an evil person at all. The security system is the responsibility of every home owner. As is locking their doors- even in good communities. Not saying it is their fault at all. (Don't want this taken the wrong way) This is a horrible event to occur and would never wish this on anyone! The cash has been donated to help this poor helpless animal in need! There are so many other poor animals out there that don't have a home and need intensive care! Donating the rest to other animals in need would be a long way!

poeple are not donating to the vet clinic as the owner requested that they not accept any. So if they are, they are doing it against the onwers wishes. I called myself to check it out and the person I talked to said they aren't accepting any for them. So please check your information before you post  
 
What people ARE finding rude, is all the assumptions going on. Both about the family and the fundraising. If anyone has any questions, they are most certainly welcome to ask me. I am not hiding anything.  
 
The go fund me account is not accepting donations anymore and we are so very thankful to each and everyone who donated. The family IS NOT purchasing a security system with the money so those of you assuming such can stop ( i realize it was talked about but not a single person asked myself or Gloria if this would be allowed). The money is going to Bruisers vet bills that were already paid by the owner (yes I'm reimbursing them as this is what the fund was set up for), a fund will be set up at the clinic to cover the future vet bills and the remainder WILL be donated. The place receiving the donation has already been informed of it. I will post updates as these donations happen. I hope this really puts to rest all of the assumptions going on by everyone. There are still good people in the world who do NOT take advantage of unfortunate situations.  
 
Any further assumption, please feel free to message me myself, or Bruisers owners. Again a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who supported this

I am going to request this thread be locked. It has served it's purpose. It has made people aware of the incident and hopefully someone will come forward with a name eventually.  
 
It was not a thread to question the integrity of the people who own or wish to help the poor dog that was so viscously brutalized.
