I’m looking for suggestions on a good vacuum for pet hair. I have cats that shed and couches that seem to attract hair easily.

Got it on sale for 500 in the spring. We have a golden retriever who sheds like crazy. Carpets look brand new and has attachments for furniture. Amazing vacuum.

Last year our household got an iRobot Roomba. With 3 cats and two dogs in the house, the daily sweeping up of another pet has stopped.  
 
It is a bit pricier than probably what your looking at, but if you have the cash I highly recommend making the investment!

I have no idea how robot roomba work or is set up but last year a household after coming home from work got a surprise to realize that their robot roomba cleaned the house i:ncluded a dog poop left on the ground to spread it out all over in the house. Messy and stinky.

I had one, it was dumb. By dumb I mean it did a half job didn’t do half the rooms and than fell down the stairs. Plus they don’t do stairs or furniture so I find them a waste

by far the best....I vacuum everyday and you would not believe the hair I still pick up. Well worth the money. I also had a problem with the business I bought it from and talked to Dyson directly and they where very helpful.  
 
In the end they ended up sending me a Dyson Stic ($399 for free). It is great for the furniture, smaller spaces.

I have had a number of Shark Uprights and love them. I can't believe the hair that is in the tank. 1/2 the price of a Dyson.

never had an issue with ours falling down the stairs or only doing half a job. We also got a more pricier model, and they get smarter as you spend more money. Some models only run randomly into walls and don't actually keep track of where they go during a cleanup, but ya they won't do stairs or furniture very well.  
 
However the convenience of not having to run behind a swiffer everyday sure is great!

We also have a Dyson pet one. I got it on clearance a year or so ago when the model changed slightly. It does a fabulous job!! We only have one relatively low-shedding dog, but between myself and our three daughters there's always people hair everywhere.
