Seems to be a lot of activity going on in the province with pipeline construction. Has anyone seen any employment opportunities advertised locally? I have been looking but not seen a lot yet.

New construction will be starting in Aug. Not sure who has contracts in province for it could try checking gee bee/sommerville/possibly o.j, aecom was working on it in sask as well cant remember who is doing security name will come to me later. Alot of these jobs will likely be filled as far as construction itself is concerned security might be the most open position.  
 
Haztech is who has done security in some areas. Have seen security and first aid response supplied by them.

I think they should have to hire a certain amount of local people when working in the area. I know we do it when we’re working in an area for an extended period of time

This is mostly Union work, if you belong to the Union you should be getting a call. I know the work here (MB) is starting after the August long weekend. Contact the Local OE 987 Winnipeg http://www.oe987.mb.ca/jobs/

Most the work is likely being placed through the labours union. Believe the hall number is 1258 in Winnipeg. Used to be 1157 and 101 then they combined years ago to become 1258. Not sure if that is what they are still called. There is also unions for machine operators and there swampers and also for pipe fitters and of course the welders. The last three I mention you have to have some strong connections to get those jobs or next up on the list. If just signing on any of these three unions, chances are you will not get work through them on the pipeline this summer.

Also local 254 usually has contracts as well. Also in Winnipeg.

Enbridge is the owner of the pipeline being put in. Buy summit pipeline is the sub contractor doing the work though manitoba. It is all union work as others have said.

Thanks for all the responses. I have never worked in any union job and so far my digging into it seems to be quite a challenge.

SA ENERGY has got two spreads, from Morden to west of Brandon. Bannister has 3 spreads which run from REGINA to just west of Brandon. OJ’s has a couple spreads between Alberta and Saskatchewan.
