I have found spiders like this one 3 times in my back yard an they are HUGE!!! The pics don't do them justice and they could easily wrap around a twoonie there so big. Can anyone tell me what species they are? I never knew spiders that size could be found around here !!

But it looks ruthless! I seen a white hairy spider with a red spot on it. It was a lot bigger than a toonie. That one looked poisonous to me too, but then all spiders are scary!

Look up Wolf Spider, I think that's what your up against. they can be poisonous but not lethal...

Just as I was posting this I actually found another one of the same size. I'm beginning to think I'm being invaded. Never seen this type and especially this size of spider anywhere around here before!!!

We have one of these too. I assumed it was a barn spider but either way I don't like it.

where do you live? In Brandon? Are they inside or outside? and....gross, they are hideous

Hideous, yes, but they eat a lot of mosquitoes, flies, and moths! There are lots of different variations of this spider and i do believe they are harmless. (If that's what it is)

I live in the west end of town near 26th and park. I keep a clean yard and mowed grass. I'm in my yard lots and one day there not here and overnight they pop up with this huge web. The one I found under the handle of my city garbage bin. Had I not seen the huge web he had made I would have stuck my hand right where he was hiding. I'm concerned cause I have dogs and they will find them before I do!! I've known some ppl who have had dogs get bit an they swell up like crazy.

I'm just down the road from you to the west and I spotted one like the cream color in the link. Seem harmless and hey, if they eat the mosquitoes, that much better.

common orb weaver spider. those ones actually are pretty normal sized. I have one on my window (who I've named charlotte) who is getting close to palm width when all her legs are extended. She seems to favor the wasps so Ive kept her around!

I added a picture , albeit not great because of where he is, of a spider that is hanging out on our window. I wasn't sure if I should kill it or not, but he's been there since at least yesterday.

Its a cat face spider , they are beautiful , I had one last year and one this year, they make hugespiderwebs

i have one near 34th and richmond, picture added

We have one and the kids go out daily to see if it is still there and they like watching it. I told the kids to leave it alone. Do not wreck the web or poke at it. We named ours Pete. LOL!! I figure if they are not bothering us then why bother them. They are big and give you the creeps but they are not doing anything so leave them be.

I know they're called "cat-face" due to the shape of their body but I've dubbed them as "horny-bums" cause of those two points near their rear. I get them every year and love them! They often will stay loyal to one spot for most the season so you can trust where they are - I've never seen one wandering around & never in the house. They know their place & know their role (which is killing nuisance bugs), absolutely no reason to bother it.

These spiders have been appearing in our yard yearly since we first spoted them in 2009. Who knows maybe they have lived here longer then we have.  
They make their webs just outside our kitchen window. Facinatinating to watch.  
Our yard attracts different species.  
As long as they stay outside, all is good!
