I've come this far in my life without a credit card. And frankly it scared the daylights out of me to get one. I have heard of some pretty decent rewards cards out there , so I am wondering, in your opinion, what would be the best? I'm just starting out on my research on these scary cards, so please enlighten me, if you can thanks everyone

It would depend on your credit report on what kinds of cards your eligible for. You can check your scores with credit Karma and borrowell. Most unsecured cards have minimum income requirements as well as your credit score minimum requirement. Hard to reccomend a card without knowing more details.

Canadian tire triangle MasterCard. You can use it to actually buy stuff you need in a store. I get hundreds of dollars worth every year.

I have few cards that all offer different things as rewards. Canadian Tire/CIBC cash back etc. The one that I use the most is PC Master Card. Between my wife and I we get a few hundred dollars worth of groceries a year. Plus you can use the points for Anything in store except tobacco and lottery. Last year we got all kinds of gift cards for friends and family at Christmas time and just used the point from the card.  
 
I should stress that I ONLY use this card to get gas at Super Store. It is the only way to really get points fast.
