Is there anyone local that I can pay to guide me through the process on registering my business and get it fully setup including business numbers, name registration, Rst and gst etc...Am I looking for a business advisor? Or an accountant or what? I know there is lots of information online but I simply want to sit down in person or have a zoom mtg and in one sitting have all my concerns and unknown answered by someone that truly knows what their talking about. If you know someone who can help me please comment and let me know!

I will have to check them out, I don’t need any financial help with loans or anything tho, I primarily just need someone to walk me through all the legal stuff to get fully registered and setup.

I don’t think I’d use a lawyer. Most things are easy to set up yourself. There are lots if resources online.

Is to register your business name if you haven’t already. If you are starting from square one, you first need to do a name search to see if the name you want to use is available and if it is then you have to register it. These are two separate steps and it is all available in the Manitoba government website.

I know there is lots of information online, as I stated that in my original post. People Im asking for advise on who to talk to (a real person), thank you MBTony for saying you did it through your lawyer! Im not looking for advise on what one or two steps might be, Im looking for names on who you would recommend or a company that specializes in setting people/businesses up for success (paperwork wise) The last thing I want to do is follow some government website that hasnt been updated in 5 years and find out I filed the wrong paperwork and there would advantages to setting it up differently. I am looking to pay someone good money to walk me through the steps, I have no interested in spending a couple evenings doing it myself and wondering if I missed something. Is there such a person or business that does this for a living? Please start tossing names out there. Thanks in advance.

She is a my bookkeeper in Rivers. With skype and zoom and cellphone distance should not be a problem. Because of covid we should be social distancing anyways.  
 
In a manner of speech she took my by the hand and guide me through the whole process of setting up and registering and getting a business number and GST number. And now she is helping me with the GST on an ongoing basis.  
 
I consider her fee money well spend for it saves me time, frustration and I am staying on the good side Revenue Canada.  
 
I do not have her permission to make her cellphone # available on a public forum like this.

You don't NEED a lawyer but I was to busy with everything else, and I also just wanted it all done. All in it was about $2500 and that included setting up the corporation.  
 
If you're just a guy setting up a business (sole proprietor) for yourself and maybe a couple of employees I'd go with Michelle Budiwsky route, she's extremely competent and likely the most cost effective route. We used Meyers Norris because we had a lot of cash flow and could afford to pay $5000-$6000/year to have them take care of everything but once we understood what "book keeping" was we found that my wife could do it herself for about 3 hours a week. Same goes for the business registration/etc...super easy to do yourself but if you're not comfortable Michelle is likely the most cost effective option and she'll be 100% effective.

I am either going to be a sole proprietor or a partnership so I am hesitant to go to a lawyer unless I have to as their rates are definitely higher then even a CGA accountant, but I am more then willing to spend whatever I need to, to not have problems down the road.  
 
Katie, I am not looking for a partial walk through in a public forum, your sentence and a half from this morning is not considered a walk through. I doubt CRA would have any remorse for me if I said I did it this way because some lady on the internet who knew nothing about my situation or business told me to do it that way. Of course you do a business name search and register it, but I want to know the other ins and outs and advantageous to each from someone local that does this for a living. Not a self claimed expert.

I set up my business myself. Another person i knew did theirs threw a lawyer. I save lots of money and mine was done correct and not in arrears.

I have set up businesses through a lawyer & accountant as well as on my own. The one I did through a lawyer & accountant (decent named firms) was the one I ended up having issues with but it really isn't hard so I think my team missed stuff for some reason and that ended up costing me in the end. What my lawyer did do tho was advise me on some of the risks and how to mitigate them which might be worth while if you are debating a partnership or are thinking large  
 
That said CRA was very helpful and are always professional, so besides a few fees and penalties, that weren't over my lawyer and accounting bill, they were fine to deal with and we just fixed the mistakes  
 
I find the steps online very easy so after the lawyer hassle I wouldn't be scared to diy it myself but if you are leary you could choose the bookkeeper/accountant route just for ease of set up or a lawyer to advise you of the benefits and pitfalls of either way  
 
as for names I think almost anyone in the business could handle it but still ask lots and lots of questions

Go talk to you accountant. They will advise you on the best way to set up your business. They can do a lot of the work for you if you want them to or they can help point you in the right direction to do it yourself. We use BDO.
