Real estate assistant here. I'm not sure the mortgage brokers treat clients more as a number. The brokers I have dealt with seemed to see their clients very much as real people, not just a number. They also seem very helpful., and I have found them to be very personable. The lenders themselves have a very rigid stance on what they require-and I'm not sure they are all that personable to their clients. Mind you-I also don't think the borrowers have a whole lot to do with the lenders themselves. It's a very long-distance relationship. Now I do know for sure that most real estate assistants dislike working on broker mortgages-some lawyers charge extra for broker mortgages. Why? Because they are more work. I personally do not mind them-most of them. There is one-a bank that processes mortgages as a broker mortgage-that I absolutely loathe working on. Banks usually have a better interest rate, but sometimes a buyer can get a mortgage through a broker after the actual banks refused to lend any money to that buyer.
